2000–01 Reading F.C. Season
The 2000–01 season was Reading's third season in Division Two, following their relegation from the Division One in 1998. It was Alan Pardew's second season as manager of the club. Reading finished the season in third place, qualifying for the Playoffs, where they were defeated in the final by Walsall 3–2. In the FA Cup, Reading were knocked out by York City after a replay in the Second Round, whilst in the League Cup, Leyton Orient defeated Reading over two legs in the First Round. Phil Whitehead
Philip Matthew Whitehead (born 17 December 1969) is an English former professional football goalkeeper. He is mainly remembered for his playing days with Oxford United and Reading. At Reading he made some important penalty saves, including one against AFC Bournemouth's Richard Hughes in a 2–1 win and one against Cambridge United's Tom Youngs in a 2–2 draw. Saltburn-by-the-Sea, commonly referred to as Saltburn, is a seaside town in Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England, around south-east of Hartlepool and southeast of Redcar. It lies within the historic boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire. It had a population of 5,958 in 2011. Graeme Murty
Graeme Stuart Murty (born 13 November 1974) is an English-born Scottish professional football coach and former player. He made 437 appearances in the Football League and Premier League, playing for York City, Reading, Charlton Athletic and Southampton. Though born in Saltburn, North Yorkshire, England, Murty qualified for Scotland through his family who were Scottish, and won four full caps. Murty joined Rangers as a development squad coach in 2016. He was twice placed in caretaker charge of the Rangers first team during 2017, and was subsequently full-time manager from December 2017 to April 2018. Barry Hunter (footballer)
Barry Hunter (born 18 November 1968) is a former Northern Ireland international footballer, recently he works as a chief scout for Premier League club Liverpool. Hunter was born in Coleraine, and made his name with Wrexham before transferring to Reading for £400,000. On ending his playing career at Portadown, he had a short spell as the caretaker-assistant manager at Swindon Town under Ady Williams. Williams and Hunter were replaced by Paul Sturrock and Kevin Summerfield. He joined Premier League Blackburn Rovers as a senior scout in 2006. Responsible for team assessments and player recruitment. Adrian Lee "Adi" Viveash (born 30 September 1969) is an English former professional footballer. He is currently Assistant Manager at Coventry City. He is most notable for his spells with Reading and Walsall during the 1990s. He played in the Reading team which won the Division Two title in 1994 and reached the Division One playoff final in 2000 and a year later achieved Promotion to the Championship in 2001. He also helped Walsall reach Division One in 1999. Career Viveash began his career with home-town club Swindon Town before joining Walsall in 1995. Matthew Richard Robinson (born 23 December 1974) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a full back who notably played in the Premier League for Southampton, before switching to rivals Portsmouth. Jamie Lawrence Ashdown (born 30 November 1980) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent a large part of his career at Portsmouth, for whom he made the majority of his professional appearances. He came out of retirement in July 2022 to sign for Ascot United F.C. where he had previously been a goalkeeping coach.
