2000 Trees
2000trees festival is an independent music festival held from Wednesday to Sunday on the second week of July at Upcote Farm, Withington, near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. It offers a diverse selection of more than 120 acts across five stages, plus comedy, a large selection of food traders, themed bars and a headphone disco on the two main stages every night of the festival. It also won the Grass Roots Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards 2010, 2013 and 2017 and the Best Medium-Sized UK Festival in 2018. 2000trees was started by six friends in 2007. The festival has performances across a number of stages which have evolved over the years, including: Main Stage, The Cave (second stage), The Axiom (formerly The Leaf Lounge), The Neu (formerly The Croft and The Greenhouse) plus a small acoustic stage in The Forest area. Withington, Gloucestershire
Withington is a Cotswold village and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England, about southeast of Cheltenham and north of Cirencester. The River Coln runs through the village. The parish includes the hamlets of Hilcot, Foxcote and Cassey Compton. The parish population taken at the 2011 census was 532. The site of a Roman villa lies to the south of the village. Remains of the villa were rediscovered in 1811 by Samuel Lysons, and investigations by the ''Time Team'' television programme for an episode first broadcast in 2006 found further Romano-British buildings east of the villa, towards the river. The origin of the name is unclear but it is found in records as early as 737 AD (''Wudiandun'', which would mean the hill of Wudia: Wudia may be a real settler or the legendary Germanic hero Witege). Art Brut
Art Brut are a Berlin-based English and German indie rock band. Their debut album, '' Bang Bang Rock & Roll'', was released on 30 May 2005, with its follow up, ''It's a Bit Complicated'', released on 25 June 2007. Named after French painter Jean Dubuffet's definition of outsider art – art by prisoners, loners, the mentally ill, and other marginalized people, and made without thought to imitation or presentation – South London's Art Brut were tagged by ''NME'' as part of the "Art Wave" scene that also included bands such as The Rakes, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. The band released further albums, ''Art Brut vs Satan'' in 2009 and ''Brilliant! Tragic!'' in 2011. A fifth album, ''Wham! Bang! Pow! Let's Rock Out!"'', was released in 2018. Dananananaykroyd
Dananananaykroyd was a Scottish six-piece, self-dubbed 'Fight Pop' band formed in 2006 in Glasgow, Scotland. Their name is a play on the name of Canadian-American actor Dan Aykroyd. They announced via Facebook and Twitter on 29 September 2011 that they would be disbanding after one farewell tour. Career In 2006, Dananananaykroyd released two limited edition 7" singles, "Totally Bone" and "Some Dresses" on Moshi Moshi and Jealous Records respectively. A Japan-only CD EP, collecting both singles, was later released on Tokyo's Klee/Rallye records. Singer Giles Bailey left the group and was replaced by drummer Calum Gunn while John Baillie Jnr joined the band on drums and additional lead vocals. Amplifier are an English rock music, rock band originating from Manchester. The band has released six albums and four EPs since its inception in 1999. Their music has been described as "Soundgarden, Tool (band), Tool, Black Sabbath, Oceansize and Pink Floyd taking copious amounts of mind-altering substances and venturing on a trip through time and space (to another dimension), and back again." Red Light Company
Red Light Company were a five-piece alternative rock band based in London, England. The band was formed in 2007 by members Richard Frenneaux (vocals/guitar), Shawn Day (bass), James Griffiths (drums), Paul Mellon (guitar) and Chris Edmonds (keyboards). They came together following an advert Richard posted on the internet, to which Shawn quickly responded, and moved from his home in Wyoming, United States to London in order to pursue making music with the rest of the group. Currently signed tLavolta Records Red Light Company have received favourable comparisons to Arcade Fire, U2 and Editors. Fightstar
Fightstar are a British rock band from London that formed in 2003. The band is composed of lead vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Charlie Simpson, guitarist and co-vocalist Alex Westaway, bassist Dan Haigh and drummer Omar Abidi. Generally considered a post-hardcore band as a whole, Fightstar are known to incorporate metal, alternative rock and other genres into their sound. During the band's early days, they were viewed sceptically by critics because of Simpson's former pop career with Busted. Their live shows got a more positive reaction, and their 2005 debut EP, ''They Liked You Better When You Were Dead'', was a critical success. Tubelord were an English alternative rock band, formed in 2006 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. In 2009, the band signed a record deal with independent label Hassle Records and on 12 October 2009 they released their debut album ''Our First American Friends''. The band split up in 2012. History The band formed in 2005 while attending Kingston College by Joseph Prendergast, David Catmur and Olev Saunders. In Case of Fire are an alternative rock band from Portadown, Northern Ireland, who formed in 2005. The band officially disbanded on 1 October 2012, and then reunited in March 2016. The original line-up consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Steven Robinson, bassist Mark Williamson and drummer Colin Robinson. Their musical style has been described as "alternative rock" with "progressive" and "hardcore" influence, and they have been compared to Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and Mars Volta. The Ghost Of A Thousand
The Ghost of a Thousand were an English five-piece punk rock band from Brighton, England. Career The Ghost of a Thousand formed in the Winter of 2004 in Brighton and began touring extensively, playing alongside Blood Red Shoes, Poison the Well, This is Hell, Gallows, Alexisonfire and Cancer Bats among others. In February 2007 the band released their debut album This is Where the Fight Begins on UK label Undergroove Records, and that summer they made their Reading and Leeds Festivals debut on the Lock-Up Stage. Slaves to Gravity were a British alternative rock band. Formed in summer 2006 in London, England, they played their final gig in October 2011. Career Slaves To Gravity were formed by the three remaining members of London-based band The Ga Ga's, along with Mark Verney, formerly of Ariel-X, in 2006. Throughout late 2006 and early 2007 the band toured throughout the UK and US, and recorded their self-produced debut album at The Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire in summer 2007. Future Of The Left
Future of the Left are a Welsh alternative rock band based in Cardiff. The group consists of former Mclusky members Andrew Falkous (vocals, guitar) and Jack Egglestone (drums) and former Million Dead bassist Julia Ruzicka. History Beginnings Future of the Left formed in mid-2005 after the bands Mclusky and Jarcrew both split up within two months of each other at the beginning of the year. The new group was formed by singer/guitarist Andy "Falco" Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone, both previously of Mclusky, alongside singer/bassist Kelson Mathias and bassist Hywel Evans, both formerly of Jarcrew.
