2000 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships
The 16th Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships were held in Zaragoza, Spain from 1 June to 4 June 2000. After the European Championships, the International Gymnastics Federation suspended six judges for discriminating against a Ukrainian gymnast, Olena Vitrychenko. The following judges were found guilty: Irina Deryugina (Ukraine), Natalya Stepanova (Belarus), Gabriela Shtumer (Austria), Galina Margina (Latvia), Natalya Ladzinskaya (Russia) and Ursula Zolenkamp (Germany). Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships
The Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships are the European championships for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. They were first held in 1978. The European Championships and the European Junior Championships were united in 1993. Prior to 2006, they were called the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. Yulia Vladimirovna Barsukova (russian: Ю́лия Влади́мировна Барсуко́ва, born 31 December 1978) is a Russian retired individual rhythmic gymnast. She is the 2000 Olympic champion in the All-Around, the 2000 Grand Prix Final All-around champion, the 1999 World All-around bronze medalist, 2000 European All-around bronze medalist and 1999 Grand Prix Final All-around bronze medalist. Early life Barsukova began figure skating at age five in the Izmaylovo District of Moscow where she lived. Eva Serrano (born 22 April 1978 in Nîmes) is a French former individual rhythmic gymnast. She was the 1999 European All-around bronze medalist and is France's most decorated and successful rhythmic gymnast. She is also a 6-time French National All-around champion. Edita Schaufler
Edita Schaufler (born 11 July 1980) is a German retired individual rhythmic gymnast. Biography Schaufler was born in Frunze in Kirghiz SSR, she started training gymnastics in 1988 at 7 years of age. Schaufler and her family later permanently moved to Germany under Germany's repatriation program for Germans from the Soviet Union. Schaufler trained under coach Livia Medilanski with fellow rhythmic gymnasts Lena Asmus and Monique Strobel at the club TV Wattenscheid 01. Valeria Vatkina (born 28 March 1981) is an Individual rhythmic gymnast. She started competitive rhythmic gymnastics in 1986. Career Born in Minsk, Belarus, Vatkina was the 1995 European Junior All-around Champion and took part with the senior Belarusian team at the 2000 European Championships in Zaragoza, Spain. Irina Ivanivna Deriugina ( uk, Іри́на Іва́нівна Дерю́ґіна; born 11 January 1958) is a former Soviet individual rhythmic gymnast from Ukraine and Ukrainian coach in rhythmic gymnastics. She is the only Soviet rhythmic gymnast to win two all-around world titles, which she won in 1977 and 1979. Her mother, Albina, was her coach.
