1995 Wismilak Open
The 1995 Wismilak Open, also known as the Surabaya Women's Open, was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Embong Sawo Sports Club in Surabaya, Indonesia that was part of Tier IV of the 1995 WTA Tour. It was the second edition of the tournament and was held from 2 October until 8 October 1995. Second-seeded Shi-Ting Wang won the singles title. Finals Singles Shi-Ting Wang defeated Jing-Qian Yi 6–1, 6–1 * It was Wang's first singles title of the year and the fourth of her career. The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. Hard Court
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. John Barrett (tennis)
John Edward Barrett, (born 17 April 1931) is a former tennis player, television commentator and author. He was born in Mill Hill, North West London, the son of Alfred Edward Barrett, a leaf tobacco merchant, and Margaret Helen Barrett (née Walker). He had one sister, Irene Margaret Leppington (1925–2009), a research chemist. His father had the rare distinction of having played both for Leicester Tigers RFC as a wing three-quarter and for Leicester Fosse FC (the former Leicester City) as a wing half. Yi Jingqian (; born 28 February 1974, in Nanjing) is a retired tennis player from China. Yi first played in the China Fed Cup team in 1991, and turned professional in 1994. In her career, she won 13 singles titles and six doubles titles on tournaments of the ITF circuit. Yi appeared in the finals of two WTA Tour tournaments in 1995: those at Surabaya and Pattaya.
