1995 Saskatchewan General Election
The 1995 Saskatchewan general election was held on June 21, 1995 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The New Democratic Party government of Premier Roy Romanow was re-elected for a second term, although with a reduced majority. The Liberal Party – led by Lynda Haverstock – increased its share of the popular vote; adding 9 seats in the legislature to the two seats it held previously, and became the official opposition. Saskatchewan voters continued to punish the Progressive Conservative Party in the wake of prosecutions of former Progressive Conservative politicians for expense account fraud. Under the leadership of Bill Boyd the party continued to lose votes, and its caucus was reduced from 10 members to 5. 23rd Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The 23rd Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan was elected in the 1995 Saskatchewan election. It was controlled by the New Democratic Party under Premier Roy Romanow. The Liberal Party began this Legislative Assembly as the Official Opposition led by Lynda Haverstock. However, when the Saskatchewan Party was formed in 1997, it became the Official Opposition led by Ken Krawetz. Humboldt was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in central Saskatchewan, this constituency was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905. Incorporated as a city in 2000, Humboldt (pop. 4,998) was the largest centre in the riding. Harold "Buckley" Belanger (born March 21, 1960) is a Canadian provincial politician, who served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Athabasca, in the north-western corner of the province. Athabasca (Saskatchewan Provincial Electoral District)
Athabasca is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located in the extreme northwest corner of the province. The major industries are tourism, mineral extraction, forestry, commercial fishing and trapping. The Cluff Lake uranium mine is located in this constituency, as well as the Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park and the Clearwater River Provincial Park. The major communities are La Loche, Île-à-la-Crosse and Buffalo Narrows with populations of 2,136, 1,268 and 1,137 respectively. Cypress Hills is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in the extreme southwest corner of the province, this constituency was formed by the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) through combining the districts of Shaunavon, Maple Creek, and portions of Swift Current. The district has an economy based on agriculture, cattle ranching and major oil and gas production. The constituency also contains the Great Sand Hills in its northern areas and Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. June Draude
June Draude (born March 17, 1949) is a retired Canadian politician. She was the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Kelvington-Wadena. First elected in 1995 as a Liberal MLA, she joined the Saskatchewan Party caucus upon their formation in 1997. Kenneth Patrick Krawetz (born April 15, 1951) is a Canadian former provincial politician. He was the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Canora-Pelly, and was Deputy Premier of Saskatchewan and Deputy Leader of the Saskatchewan Party. Background Krawetz was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in the 1995 provincial election as a Liberal. He became the Leader of the Opposition in 1996 when Jim Melenchuk was chosen Liberal Party leader as Melenchuk did not have a seat in the legislature. Canora-Pelly is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. The constituency was created by the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) out of the former districts of Canora and Pelly. Located in east central Saskatchewan, this constituency is made up of one of the province's most densely populated rural areas. The economy is based on mixed farming; primarily in the northern areas.
