Ronald Lee Harper is a Canadian provincial politician. He served as the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Regina Northeast. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Regina Northeast
Regina Northeast is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district includes the neighbourhoods of Parkridge, Uplands, Glencairn and Glencairn Village. The district was created in 1967 out of parts of Regina North and Regina East. Between 1991 and 1995, this riding was called "Regina Churchill Downs". Kevin Doherty of the Saskatchewan Party won the riding in the general elections of 2011 and 2016, but announced his retirement from politics in the spring of 2018 and resigned the seat. Ned Shillington
Edward Blaine "Ned" Shillington (born August 28, 1944, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada) is a lawyer, consultant and former Canadian politician. He was a member of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party and was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1975 to 1999. He served in the Cabinets of Premier Allan Blakeney and also Premier Roy Romanow. Early life The son of Sterling Arthur Shillington and Dorathy Jennie Henry, Shillington studied law at the University of Saskatchewan, articled in Regina and set up practice in Moosomin. In 1970, he married Sonia Koroscil. Political career First attempt Shillington ran unsuccessfully as an NDP candidate in the Saskatchewan general election of 1971, in the riding of Moosimin. Pelly is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in east-central Saskatchewan, it was centered on the village of Pelly. The riding was created before the 2nd Saskatchewan general election in 1908, and dissolved before the 23rd Saskatchewan general election in 1995. This constituency elected the first woman to the Saskatchewan legislature: Sarah Ramsland. It is now part of the district of Canora-Pelly. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party. Canora-Pelly is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. The constituency was created by the ''Representation Act, 1994'' (Saskatchewan) out of the former districts of Canora and Pelly. Located in east central Saskatchewan, this constituency is made up of one of the province's most densely populated rural areas. The economy is based on mixed farming; primarily in the northern areas. The southern portion of the riding relies mainly on straight grain farming. Duck Mountain Provincial Park and Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park are also located in this constituency.
