Slovenian PrvaLiga
The Slovenian PrvaLiga ( sl, Prva slovenska nogometna liga, ), currently named Prva liga Telemach due to sponsorship reasons, also known by the abbreviation 1. SNL, is the top level of the Football in Slovenia, Slovenian football league system. Contested by ten clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Slovenian Second League (2. SNL). Seasons typically run from July to May with each team playing 36 matches. The competition was founded in 1991 after Slovenia became an independent country. From 1920 until the end of the 1990–91 season, the Slovenian Republic League was a lower division within the Yugoslav league system. The league is governed by the Football Association of Slovenia. NK Celje, Celje and NK Maribor, Maribor are the only two founding clubs that have never been relegated from the league since its foundation in 1991. Samir Zulič (born 8 January 1966) is a Slovenian retired footballer who played as a defender. Club career Zulič played for Koper in the Yugoslav Second League during the 1985–86 season. International career Zulič has made eight appearances for the senior Slovenia national football team. He made his international debut on 3 June 1992 in the first official international match of Slovenia, a 1–1 international friendly with Estonia in Tallinn. Zoran Ubavič
Zoran Ubavič (28 October 1965 – 21 November 2015) was a Slovenian footballer who played as a forward. Ubavič spent his entire career playing for Slovenian clubs and was also capped once for the Slovenia national team, on 3 June 1992 in a friendly against Estonia in Tallinn. He was the top scorer of the Slovenian PrvaLiga in its inaugural 1991–92 season, and is Olimpija's all-time leading goalscorer with 167 goals in 283 games across all competitions. Personal life Born in Celje to a military officer, Ubavič suffered from severe dementia in his final years and died in 2015, aged 50. Eternal Derby Of Slovenian Football (1962–2004)
The Eternal derby of Slovenian football, simply known as the Eternal derby ( sl, Večni derbi) or Slovenian derby ( sl, Slovenski derbi) was a football rivalry between NK Maribor and NK Olimpija, which was dissolved in 2005. In 2005, a new club under the name of NK Bežigrad was founded and later changed its name to NK Olimpija Ljubljana. Because most of the fans that supported the dissolved Olimpija started to support Bežigrad, the continuation of the rivalry is considered by most Slovenian media and fans as the matches between Maribor and the new Olimpija Ljubljana, established in 2005 as NK Bežigrad. The new club consider themselves as the spiritual continuation of the dissolved club, however, legally, the current Olimpija Ljubljana is a distinct and separate club as treated by the Football Association of Slovenia. Nogometno društvo Slovan or simply ND Slovan is a Slovenian football club based in Ljubljana that competes in the Slovenian Third League, the third tier of Slovenian football.
