1989 ADAC Supercup
The SAT 1 Supercup '89 was the fourth and final season of the Supercup, a West German auto racing series organized by the ADAC and sponsored by SAT 1 television. Held over five events in West Germany and Great Britain, the driver's championship was won by Frenchmen Bob Wollek; his team Joest Racing won the team's championship. The series was canceled following the 1989 season, ending a yearly series of German sports car championships dating back to 1972. Entries C1 C2 Schedule and results The series ventured outside West Germany for the first time, replacing the traditional Hockenheimring event with a race at the Silverstone Circuit in Great Britain. The Silverstone round allowed many competitors from the BRDC Sportscar Championship to compete alongside the Supercup. ADAC Supercup
The Supercup was a West German auto racing series created by the ADAC in 1986 as a replacement for the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM). The series used Group C category sports prototypes identical to the ones used in the World Sportscar Championship, yet running nearly exclusively within West Germany. The series lasted for four years before it was cancelled following the 1989 championship. The series was initially sponsored by sport auto magazine during its inaugural season, then replaced by Würth the following two years. Television network Sat.1 sponsor the championship's final year. Format The Supercup would employ a sprint format for all of its races, each race lasting approximately one hour although later events were extended to near an hour and a half. John Andrew Andretti (March 12, 1963January 30, 2020) was an American race car driver. He won individual races in CART, IMSA GTP, Rolex Sports Car Series, and NASCAR during his career. Gebhardt Motorsport is a German motor racing team and constructor founded by brothers Günther and Fritz Gebhardt. Originally the team was formed to further the open wheel racing career of Günther Gebhardt as he progressed through Formula Super Vee and Formula 3 racing a succession of March and Ralt open wheelers. Richard Lloyd Racing (RLR), originally named GTi Engineering, was a British auto racing team created in 1977 by driver Richard Lloyd. Originally named for the Volkswagen Golf GTIs that Lloyd raced in the British Saloon Car Championship (BSCC), they went on to become a successful Porsche privateer in the World Sportscar Championship (WSC). George Robert Fouché (born 15 May 1965 in Pretoria, South Africa), nicknamed "Fast Fouché", is a former South African and international motorsport racecar driver and South African Formula 1 Powerboat pilot.
