1985–86 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 1985–86 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 20th edition of the Honduran Liga Nacional. The format of the tournament consisted of two groups of five followed by a 4-team playoff round. C.D. Marathón won the title after winning the final round and qualified to the 1986 CONCACAF Champions' Cup along with C.D. Liga Nacional De Fútbol Profesional De Honduras
Liga Betcris de Honduras (''Honduran National Professional Football League'') is the highest division of football in Honduras. The league season is divided into Opening (autumn) and Closing (spring). One team is relegated to the Liga de Ascenso (the team with fewest points in Opening and Closing) and one team is promoted from Liga de Ascenso. The top four clubs participate in play-offs to decide the champion. The winners of the Opening and Closing competitions participate in the CONCACAF Champions League. El Clásico Nacional ("National Classic") is a Honduran football match played between Olimpia and Marathón. The Classic began in September 1928 when Olimpia, at that time Central Zone champion, won its three match final series against Marathón, champion of the North. Raúl Martínez Sambulá (born 14 March 1963) is a former Honduran professional football player, who made his name with the national team in the early 1990s. Amílcar Leonel Suazo is a retired Honduran association football forward who played professionally in Honduras and the United States. From 1982 to 1988, Suazo played for F.C. Motagua. Nicolás Suazo Velásquez (born 9 January 1965 in San Pedro Sula, Cortés) is a retired Honduran footballer who played as a forward. Club career Nicknamed ''Nicogol'' because of his prolific goalscoring, Suazo played in Honduras for Independiente, Marathón and Victoria, in Costa Rica for Herediano alongside compatriot Danilo Galindo and for Comunicaciones and USAC in Guatemala. Gilberto Leonel Machado García (born 23 March 1962) is a retired Honduran footballer who played as a midfielder for Marathón, Olimpia, and Deportes Progreseño in Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras. He is the current manager of Honduran second division side Sula de La Lima. Club career Born in San Pedro Sula, Machado played club football in Honduras.
