El Clásico Nacional ("National Classic") is a Honduran football match played between Olimpia and Marathón. The Classic began in September 1928 when Olimpia, at that time Central Zone champion, won its three match final series against Marathón, champion of the North. Club Deportivo Olimpia
Club Deportivo Olimpia is a professional Honduran football club based in Tegucigalpa, Francisco Morazán. The club is the nation's most successful team both in the domestic league and in international club competitions. History Olimpia was founded as a baseball club on June 12, 1912, by Héctor Pineda Ugarte, Carlos Bram, Arturo Bram, Enrique Buik, Santiago Buik, Miguel Sanchez, Samuel Inestrosa Gómez, and Ramón Field. In 1917, it also became a football team. C.D. Olimpia is the most successful football team in Honduras, having won 31 domestic league titles since it was founded in 1912, the latest being the 2019–20 Apertura & Clausura season. Juan Carlos Espinoza (Honduran Footballer)
Juan Carlos Espinoza Zerón (born 24 August 1958) is a retired Honduran football player, who most recently was assistant manager of Real España in the Liga Nacional de Honduras. Club career He started his career at Real España but spent the majority of his career with Olimpia. He also had a short stint at Costa Rican side Alajuelense. He played with Alex Pineda Chacón, Belarmino Rivera, Eugenio Dolmo Flores, Danilo Galindo and his brother Nahúm Espinoza in the Olimpia and they won the CONCACAF Champions League in 1988. Enrique Renau
Germán Enrique Centeno Reneau, known as “Quique” Renau (9 April 1971 – 23 August 2015) was a Honduran football player. Club career A lightning fast striker and nicknamed ''El Esquilete'' (the Stilletto) or ''La Gacela'' (the Gazelle), Reneau started his career at Victoria where he debuted in 1989. He went on to score 37 goals with Victoria between 1990 and 1996, as well in 2000. At Victoria he was an important member of their first league title-winning team in 1995 when scoring the goal that won them the championship against Olimpia in Tegucigalpa. Óscar Vargas (footballer)
Óscar Ramón Vargas (born 1980) is a Honduran former footballer. Club career Playing as a forward, Óscar Vargas debuted in Honduran football with Marathón in 2002. He was the revelation of the championship by scoring the fourth goal in the victory 4-1 of his team against Olimpia, in the first leg of the final of the 2001-02 Clausura. Subsequently, Vargas was crowned champion with the club. During his three years at Marathón, he won two more titles: 2002-03 Clausura and 2004-05 Apertura. In 2006, he was transferred to Hispano. Danilo Javier Tosello (born March 27, 1969) is a retired Argentine football (soccer) player. During his career, he won 4 championships in Honduras with Olimpia. Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano
Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano is a multi-purpose stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It is currently used mostly for football matches and also has facilities for athletics. It has a capacity of 37,325. History It was built in 1997 for the sixth edition of the Central American Games held there. This stadium was built by Jerónimo Sandoval, mostly known by "Chombo Sandoval", he was the organizer of the 1997 Central American Olympic Games in San Pedro Sula, which caused many controversies. After its completion the stadium became the largest in the country dispatching Estadio Nacional's of that title.
