1984–85 Cypriot Third Division
The 1984–85 Cypriot Third Division was the 14th season of the Cypriot third-level football league. Orfeas Athienou won their 1st title. Format Sixteen teams participated in the 1984–85 Cypriot Third Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first two teams were promoted to 1985–86 Cypriot Second Division. The last three teams were relegated to the 1985–86 Cypriot Fourth Division. Point system Teams received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. Cypriot Third Division
The Cypriot Third Division (Greek: Πρωτάθλημα Γ΄ Κατηγορίας) is the third tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league are promoted to the Cypriot Second Division, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to the STOK Elite Division. History The Cypriot Third Division was held for the first time in the 1970–71 season as the third level of the Cypriot football. All the teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. Kentro Neon Onisillos Sotiras was a Cypriot football club from the village of Sotira. The club was founded in 1978 and was named after the ancient Cypriot revolutionary Onesilus. The club has played in the Cypriot First Division once during the 2003–04 season. The club was dissolved on 16 July 2014 due to financial problems. 1984–85 Cypriot Cup
The 1984–85 Cypriot Cup was the 43rd edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 43 clubs entered the competition. It began on 18 November 1984 with the preliminary round and concluded on 22 June 1985 with the final which was held at Makario Stadium. AEL won their 4th Cypriot Cup trophy after beating EPA 1–0 in the final. Format In the 1984–85 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division and the Cypriot Third Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In the preliminary round each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of the one of the two teams, according to the draw results. The last two teams were relegated to the 1985–86 Cypriot Second Division. The champions ensured their participation in the 1985–86 European Cup and the runners-up in the 1985–86 UEFA Cup. Phileleftheros
''O Phileleftheros'' ( el, Ὁ Φιλελεύθερος, meaning "The Liberal") is the largest newspaper (by circulation) in Cyprus, with about 26,000 copies daily (2002). Established in 1955, it is also the oldest Greek-language daily newspaper in circulation on the island. Other daily newspapers published in Cyprus include '' Politis,'' ''Simerini'', ''Haravgi'', and ''Alithia''. ''I Simerini'' (English: The Daily) is a centre-right Greek language independently owned newspaper published in Cyprus since 1976. It is one of the largest newspapers on the island with a daily circulation of around 9,000 copies. Other daily Greek language newspapers (2013) published in Cyprus are ''Haravgi'', ''Phileleftheros'', and '' Politis''. Neos Aionas Trikomou ( el, Νέος Αιώνας Τρικώμου, "New Century Trikomou") was a Cypriot football club based in Trikomo. Elpida Xylofagou is a Cypriot football club based in the village of Xylofagou in Larnaca district. The club, which was established in 1959, currently competes in the Cypriot Second Division, after a successful campaign in the Cypriot Third Division, from which it gains the promotion.
