PBA On Vintage Sports
The PBA on Vintage Sports was a branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association games produced by Vintage Sports, a sports-oriented media company and was aired on Philippine television networks City2 Television from 1982 to 1984, Maharlika Broadcasting System (later renamed as People's Television Network) from 1985 to 1995, and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation from 1996 to 1999. Tanduay Distillers, Inc. () is a Philippine alcoholic beverage company. It is a subsidiary of LT Group, a conglomerate owned by Filipino business magnate Lucio Tan. As of 2019, it is the world's largest rum brand. History Tanduay traces its origins to a distillery in Hagonoy, Bulacan originally owned by Elías Menchatorre. In 1856, the distillery was acquired by Valentin Teus e Yrisarry and brought into Ynchausti y Compañía, a prominent Philippine multi-national conglomerate led by the Ynchausti family. Although the Hagonoy distillery was already in operation at the time of the acquisition, Ynchausti y Compañia decided to use its own foundation date (1854) as the distillery's foundation date. Six years later, a rectifying plant was constructed in Isla de Tanduay, bordering the Quiapo and San Miguel districts of Manila, becoming the original Tanduay distillery. The Philippine Basketball Association Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) award given since the start of the league in 1975 to the best performing player of the season. The award is decided using criteria introduced since the 2011–12 season, which include accumulated statistical points, votes from media, players and the league's Commissioner's Office. The 1984 Beer Hausen Brewmasters season was the first season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). New team As the league enters its 10th season, the famed Toyota Super Corollas ballclub that won 9 PBA titles, formally disbanded and sold its franchise to Basic Holdings Inc., a mother company of Asia Brewery. The team will carry the name Beer Hausen. Seven players from Toyota, led by Ramon Fernandez, were absorbed by the Brewmasters. The 1984 Gold Eagle Beer season was the 10th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Transactions Occurrences In the third and last playing date of the quarterfinal round on June 17, the Beermen and the Gilbey's Gin Tonics battled for the last seat in the round of four semifinals, Gilbey's won, 106–104, but the match was put under protest by Gold Eagle, citing a malfunctioning 25-second shot clock and the PBA technical committee, acting on the protest have ordered a replay. Two nights later on June 19, Gilbey's Gin left no doubt as to their rightful claim to the semifinal round by winning the replayed game over the Beermen by nine points, 115–106.
