1984 Associate Members' Cup Final
The 1984 Associate Members' Cup Final was the inaugural final of the domestic football cup competition for teams from the Third and Fourth Divisions. The final was played at Boothferry Park on 24 May 1984, and was contested by Hull City and Bournemouth. 1983–84 Associate Members' Cup
The 1983–84 Associate Members' Cup was the third staging of a secondary football league tournament, and the first staging of Associate Members' Cup. It was a reconstitution of the Football League Group Cup. The format was changed to a knock-out competition for English football clubs in the Football League Third Division, Third Division and the Football League Fourth Division, Fourth Division. Previously it had been an invitation 32-team tournament with a group stage and knock-out competition, with clubs from all 4 levels of the football league. The winners were A.F.C. Bournemouth, Bournemouth and the runners-up were Hull City A.F.C., Hull City. The competition began on 20 February 1984 and ended with the final on 24 May 1984 at Boothferry Park, the home stadium of the losing finalists. Steve McClaren
Stephen McClaren (born 3 May 1961) is an English former professional footballer and coach who currently serves as an assistant coach for Premier League club Manchester United, in his second spell at the club. McClaren began his coaching career with Oxford United, before joining Derby County in 1995. In 1999, McClaren was hired by Manchester United as Brian Kidd's replacement as Alex Ferguson's assistant manager. He held that position for two years, until he was hired as manager of Middlesbrough. Sean O'Driscoll
Sean Michael O'Driscoll (born 1 July 1957) is a former professional footballer and manager. He has previously managed AFC Bournemouth, Doncaster Rovers, Crawley Town, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Walsall. He was known by the nickname "Noisy" in his playing days at Fulham. Philip Arthur Brignull (born 2 October 1960) is an English former professional footballer who played from 1978 to 1988. As a defender, he made over 150 appearances in the Football League during his career. Career An England schoolboy international, Brignull started his career as a youth team player at West Ham United. Roger Brown (footballer)
Roger William Brown (12 December 1952 – 17 August 2011) was an English football manager and player who played as a defender. He made over 300 Football League appearances in total, playing for Bournemouth in two spells, Norwich City and Fulham. He managed Colchester United between 1987 and 1988. Playing career Brown, born in Tamworth, began his career with local club Dosthill Rovers, later moving to Bolehall Swifts, before joining Walsall as an apprentice in 1970, but failed to earn a contract with the club. Following this, he joined Paget Rangers and then moved to Leamington after becoming a production manager at an engineering firm based in the town. John Beck (footballer)
John Alexander Beck (born 25 May 1954) is an English former footballer and manager. As a player, he made nearly 500 English Football League appearances for five clubs between 1972 and 1989. As a manager, he had a highly successful spell in charge of Cambridge United in the early 1990s, when he guided the club to two successive promotions and two successive quarter-final appearances in the FA Cup. Beck took the club from the Fourth Division to the Second and very nearly to the new Premier League at the end of the 1991–92 season, where they ended their campaign fifth in the Second Division, their highest ever league finish.. Chris Sulley
Christopher Stephen Sulley (born 3 December 1959) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left-back. He played 401 games in the Football League and seven games in the Scottish Football League. He began his career at Chelsea in 1978, though did not play a league game for the club, and instead joined AFC Bournemouth in 1981. After five years on the south coast, during which he was twice promoted and lifted the Associate Members' Cup, he signed with Blackburn Rovers via Dundee United. Ian Leigh (born 11 June 1962) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Active between 1981 and 1992 in both England and Malta, in both League and non-League football, Leigh made over 125 career appearances. Christopher Roy Chilton (25 June 1943 – 20 May 2021) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Hull City and Coventry City.
