1983 European Endurance Championship
The 1983 FIA European Endurance Championship for Drivers was the seventh season and third iteration of the European Sportscar Championship auto racing series. It was contested by drivers competing in Group C sports cars, Group C Junior sports cars, and Group B GT cars in eight race events from 10 April to 23 October 1983. Frenchmen Bob Wollek won the championship driving for the Sorga S.A. Porsche team. The European championship was held in conjunction with the 1983 World Endurance Championship, sharing the first five race events before departing for outside Europe. As such, many drivers and teams competed in both championships. Schedule All events covered a distance of with exception of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The first five events were shared with the World Endurance Championship. 1000 Km Brands Hatch
The Brands Hatch 1000 km was an endurance sports car event that was part of the World Sportscar Championship for varying years from 1967 until 1989. Originally a six-hour race running under the name BOAC 500, the event was eventually extended to 1000 kilometres under a number of different sponsorship titles. History In 1966, a non-championship sports car race was held at Brands Hatch for a distance of 500 miles, with drivers David Piper and Bob Bondurant easily taking victory in an AC Cobra. With the success of this initial event, the World Sportscar Championship would add Brands Hatch to their calendar, while the British Sports Car Championship replaced their Guards Trophy event. The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (), frequently referred to as ''Spa'', is a motor-racing circuit located in Stavelot, Belgium. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (formerly the 1000 Kilometres of Spa-Francorchamps) is an endurance race for sports cars held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. As on the Nürburgring, both a 24-hour race for touring cars and GTs is held, and an endurance race for sports cars and GTs.
