The UEFA European Under-18 Championship 1982 Final Tournament was held in Finland. It also served as the European qualification for the 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship. John Philliben
John Philliben (born 14 March 1964) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. Career A schoolboy international, Philliben started his career at Stirling Albion. In 1982, he was part of the Scotland under-18 side which won the European Under-19 Championship, scoring in the final. He earned a £70,000 transfer to Doncaster Rovers in March 1984, becoming the club's record signing and went on to spend three years there, spending some time on loan to Cambridge United in 1986. Philliben returned to Scotland in 1987 with Motherwell, where he spent ten years. In 1991, he helped them on their way to victory in the Scottish Cup. In 1998, Philliben left Motherwell and returned to first club Stirling Albion as player/manager, although he returned to Motherwell on 25 July 2008 for his testimonial match against West Ham United. Gary Mackay
Gary Mackay (born 23 January 1964 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former footballer, who made over 500 league appearances for Heart of Midlothian and also played for Airdrieonians and the Scotland national team. After retiring as a player, he managed Airdrie for a year. Mackay is now an SFA–registered agent. Career Mackay played for Heart of Midlothian for most of his career, and he holds the record for the most competitive appearances for the club, with 640. Pat Nevin
Patrick Kevin Francis Michael Nevin (born 6 September 1963) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a winger. In a 20-year career, he appeared for Clyde, Chelsea, Everton, Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock and Motherwell. He won 28 caps for Scotland, scattered across a ten-year international career, and was selected for the UEFA Euro 1992 finals squad. Since retiring as a player, Nevin has worked as a chief executive of Motherwell and as a football writer and broadcaster. Club career Clyde Nevin trained with Celtic as a youngster, but was rejected for being too small. He was signed by Clyde in 1981. In his first season, the club were promoted as Scottish Second Division champions; Nevin scored 14 goals in 30 starts and was voted SPFA Second Division Player of the Year.
