The 1981 Tour du Haut Var was the 13th edition of the Tour du Haut Var cycle race and was held on 22 February 1981. The race started in Nice and finished in Seillans. Jacques Bossis
Jacques Bossis (born 22 December 1952) is a French former professional road bicycle racer. As an amateur he won Bordeaux-Saintes in 1973. He was professional from 1976 to 1985 and won 7 victories. He wore the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification for one day in the 1978 Tour de France. His victories include 1976 and 1977 editions of the GP Ouest-France, 1981 Tour du Haut-Var. Since 1988 in the commune of Saujon in Charente-Maritime in France, a cycling event called the ''la Jacques Bossis'' is organized which counts for the national amateur competition. He also competed in the team pursuit event at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Régis Clère
Régis Clère (15 August 1956 – 9 June 2012) was a French professional road bicycle racer. Clère was born in Langres. During his career, he won three stages in the Tour de France. He won one of these stages, in the 1987 Tour de France, after he was almost eliminated after finishing outside the time limit in the previous stage, but the Tour de France jury allowed him to continue the race. He also competed in the individual road race event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Clère died, aged 55, in Dijon during a surgical procedure. Josef Fuchs (cyclist)
Josef Fuchs (born 24 July 1948) is a retired Swiss racing cyclist. As an amateur he won two world championship medals in 1969 and 1971, both on the road and on track. He also won a few minor races and two stages of the Tour de l'Avenir (1969 and 1971) and one of the Milk Race (1971). In late 1971 he turned professional and the same year won the Giro della Toscana. He placed eighth overall in the 1975 Tour de France and won the Liège–Bastogne–Liège race in 1981. During his career Fuchs won four national titles, two on track, as amateur in 1970 and 1971, and two on the road, as professional in 1972 and 1973. Phil Anderson (cyclist)
Philip Grant Anderson (born 20 March 1958) is a British-born Australian former professional racing cyclist who was the first non-European to wear the yellow jersey of the Tour de France. Origins Phil Anderson was born in London but moved to Melbourne, Australia, when he was young. He grew up in the suburb of Kew and graduated from Trinity Grammar School in 1975. John James 'Sean' Kelly (born 24 May 1956) is an Irish former professional road bicycle racer, one of the most successful road cyclists of the 1980s, and one of the finest Classics riders of all time. From becoming a professional in 1977 until his retirement in 1994, he won 193 professional races, including nine Monument Classics, Paris–Nice a record seven years consecutively and the first UCI Road World Cup in 1989. Graham Jones (born 28 October 1957) is a former professional English road racing cyclist from Manchester, England. He rode in the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia. He is often described as one of the classiest riders that Britain has ever produced, but his career was hindered by being over raced in his early days, and by injury in his later days. He is one of the few English-speaking riders to have stood on the podium of the Flanders Classics Het Volk. Origins Graham was born in Cheadle, just south of Manchester. Seillans (; oc, Selhan) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It is a ''ville perché'' (perched hill-top village) overlooking the plain between the southern Alps and the Esterel, which borders the sea between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël.
