1973 European Figure Skating Championships
The 1973 European Figure Skating Championships was a senior-level international competition held in Cologne, West Germany from February 6 to 11, 1973. Elite senior-level figure skaters from European ISU member nations competed for the title of European Champion in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. Jan Hoffmann
Jan Hoffmann (born 26 October 1955) is a German figure skater who represented East Germany in competition. A four-time Olympian, he is the 1980 Olympic silver medalist, the 1974 & 1980 World Champion, and a four-time (1974, 1977–1979) European Champion. Personal life Jan Hoffmann was born on 26 October 1955 in Dresden, East Germany. He is married and has one daughter. Career Competitive Hoffmann's first coach was Annemarie Halbach in Dresden. He later switched to Jutta Müller in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today Chemnitz). He represented the former East Germany in competition. He was one of a handful of figure skaters who rotated clockwise, landing on his left foot. At the age of 12, Hoffmann competed at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble and placed 26th. Jacek Tascher
Jacek Tascher (born in 1957 in Bydgoszcz) is a Polish former competitive figure skater. In the 1970s, he became a two-time national champion in men's singles and a two-time national silver medalist in ice dancing. He competed at six ISU Championships. Career Tascher began skating at Polonia Bydgoszcz when he was 4½ years old. In 1973 and 1975 he won the Polish national title in men's singles. He was sent to two World and two European Championships; his best result was 15th at the 1975 Europeans in Copenhagen. In 1977, Tascher switched to ice dancing, forming a partnership with Halina Gordon-Półtorak. They became two-time national silver medalists and placed 12th at the 1978 and 1979 European Championships. In 1989, Tascher founded the Walley Figure Skating Club in Poland. Robin Cousins
Robin Cousins, MBE (born 17 August 1957) is a British former competitive figure skater who was BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1980. He was the 1980 Olympic champion, the 1980 European champion, a three-time World medalist (1978–1980) and four-time British national champion (1977–1980), winning all of these titles during his amateur career. He followed this with a successful career as a professional figure skater and later starred in ice shows as well as producing several of his own. He is able to spin in either direction, both clockwise and anti-clockwise, which is an unusual skill for a figure skater. Off the ice, Cousins has commentated on figure skating events for the BBC, and he assumed the position of head judge on ITV's ''Dancing on Ice'' show from 2006 to 2014. Michael Fish, (born 27 April 1944 in Eastbourne, Sussex) is a British weather forecaster. From 1974 to 2004, he was a television presenter for BBC Weather. Career Educated at Eastbourne College and City University London, Fish was the longest-serving broadcast meteorologist on British television. He joined the Met Office in 1962 and started on BBC Radio in 1971, moving to the role on television in 1974. Fish was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2004 Birthday Honours.
