The 1965 Tour de Suisse was the 29th edition of the Tour de Suisse cycle race and was held from 10 June to 16 June 1965. The race started in Murten and finished in Bern. The race was won by Franco Bitossi of the Filotex team. Franco Bitossi
Franco Bitossi (born 1 September 1940) is an Italian former professional cycle sport, cyclist. He was born in Camaioni di Carmignano. Career Bitossi cycled for three years as an amateur and became a professional in October 1961, after he had reached the required age of 21. As a professional cyclist, from 1961 until 1978, he won a total of 171 races. In 1965 he won the Tour de Suisse and the Züri-Metzgete, which he won again in 1968. In 1967 he won the Tirreno–Adriatico, Giro di Lombardia and Coppa Agostoni, while the following year he became the first Italian to win the points classification in the Tour de France. Herman Van Springel
Herman Vanspringel (14 August 1943 – 25 August 2022), also spelled Herman Van Springel, was a Belgian road racing cyclist, from Grobbendonk, in the Flemish Campine or Kempen region. He achieved podium finishes in all three of the grand tours with second place in the 1968 Tour de France and 1971 Giro d'Italia, and third place in the 1970 Vuelta a España. He wore the Maillot Jaune during four stages of the 1968 Tour de France and for three stages in 1973. Career Vanspringel was an accomplished time-trial rider, almost winning the Tour de France in 1968. He was beaten in the last stage by Dutch rider Jan Janssen in a time-trial. Marino Fontana
Marino Fontana (14 March 1936 – 11 June 2013) was an Italian road cyclist. Professional from 1960 to 1966, he notably won the 1961 Giro di Toscana and finished third in the 1960 Giro di Lombardia. He also rode in seven races of the Giro d'Italia, with his best finish being 21st in 1963. After retiring, he worked as a directeur sportif for several teams. Enzo Moser
Enzo Moser (5 November 1940 – 25 July 2008) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer from 1962 to 1967. He was the first winner of the Giro del Trentino in 1962. He came from a famous family of cyclists, the most famous of whom is his younger brother Francesco Moser, which also includes older brother Aldo, younger brother Diego and nephews Leonardo Moser and Moreno Moser, all of whom are or were professional cyclists. His achievements also include two days in the pink jersey during the 1964 Giro d'Italia. He was born in Palù di Giovo, Trentino, which incidentally is also the birthplace of Gilberto Simoni. He was killed in an agricultural accident on 25 July 2008. Tour De Suisse
The Tour de Suisse ( en, Tour of Switzerland) is an annual road cycling stage race. Raced over eight days, the event covers two weekends in June, and along with the Critérium du Dauphiné, it is considered a proving ground for the Tour de France, which is on the calendar approximately two weeks after the end of the Tour de Suisse.
