The 1965 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 77th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 31 January 1965. The championship began on 11 April 1965 and ended on 14 November 1965. Con Roche
Cornelius Roche (born 1946) is an Irish former hurler, manager and selector. He played for Cork Senior Championship club St Finbarr's and was a member of the Cork senior hurling team for ten years, during which time he usually lined out as a left wing-back. Roche began his hurling career at club level with St Finbarr's. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 17-year-old in 1963 and had his first success two years later when the club won the 1965 Cork Championship, before claiming further titles in 1968, 1974 and 1977. The highlight of Roche's club career came in 1975 when he was at midfield on the All-Ireland Championship-winning team. At inter-county level, Roche was part of the successful Cork minor team that won the All-Ireland Championship in 1964 before later winning an All-Ireland Championship with the under-21 team in 1966. Denis Murphy (Cork Hurler)
Denis Murphy (born 1939) is an Irish former hurler who played as a left corner-back at senior level for the Cork county team. Born in Donoughmore, County Cork, Murphy first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Colman's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he first linked up with the Cork junior team. He made his senior debut during the 1960 championship. Murphy immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Murphy won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he is a one-time Munster medallist with St Finbarr's. In addition to this he has also won two championship medals, after beginning his career with Grenagh. Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History The concept of a Gaelic Athletic Association was first mooted in 1883 when a sub-committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood was formed with the ideal of creating a National Athletic body. Midleton man, P.N Fitzgerald was one of the committee members who eventually set up the Gaelic Athletic Association and thus Midleton's love affair and commitment to the G.A.A. was established. O'Donovan Rossa or Skibbereen is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland. It participates in Cork GAA competitions.
