1961 Norwegian Football Cup
The 1961 Norwegian Football Cup was the 56th season of the Norwegian annual knockout football tournament. The tournament was open for all members of NFF, except those from Northern Norway. Rosenborg was the defending champions, but was eliminated by the second tier team Brann in the quarterfinal. The final was played at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo on 22 October 1961, and was contested by the seven-times former winners Fredrikstad and the second-tier team Haugar who made their debut in the Norwegian Cup final. Fredrikstad won their eighth Norwegian Cup title with an impressive 7-0 win against Haugar in the final, and also secured the double for the third time. Football Association Of Norway
The Norwegian Football Federation ( nb, Norges Fotballforbund, nn, Noregs Fotballforbund; NFF) is the governing body of football in Norway. It was formed in 1902 and organises the men's and women's national teams, as well as the league systems for men and women (whose top levels are respectively the Eliteserien and Toppserien). The current president of NFF is Lise Klaveness. By 1 January 2004, there were 1,814 clubs organized in Norway and 373,532 registered players. It is the largest sports federation in Norway. The NFF joined FIFA in 1908, and UEFA in 1954. The NFF was part of an unsuccessful joint bid with the SvFF, the DBU and the SPL to host the UEFA Euro 2008 championship. The SvFF invited the NFF to join them in bidding for the UEFA Euro 2016 championship. Egersunds Idrettsklubb, commonly known as Egersund or EIK, is a Norwegian sports club from Egersund in Rogaland. The club has sections for football, handball and athletics, and is most known for its football team, which plays in the 2. divisjon, the third tier of the Norwegian football league system. History The inhabitants of Egersund first started playing football late in the 19th century, after influence from the English pottery-workers in the city. Viking Fotballklubb, commonly known as Viking or Viking Stavanger internationally, is a Norwegian football club from the city of Stavanger. The club was founded in 1899. Asker Fotball is the football department of Norwegian sports club Asker SK from Asker. The women's football team is one of the most successful clubs ever in Norway, with 6 top flight championships and 5 cup championships. Due to financial difficulties at the end of 2008, the team's licence to play in the Toppserien was revoked; the team members then joined Stabæk IF's football group, Stabæk Fotball, which set up a new women's team. NFF gave Asker's place in the Toppserien to Stabæk Fotball. Asker's second team became Asker's first team, playing in the 2. divisjon, and they now have a recruiting arrangement with Stabæk Fotball. Sandnes Ulf is a Norwegian association football club from Sandnes, Rogaland, currently playing in the 1. divisjon, the second highest division in the Norwegian football league system. Fotballklubben Ørn Horten, formerly Ørn fotballklubb, abbreviated Ørn FK, popularly known as ''De brune'' or ''Ørnane'', was founded on 4 May 1904, and is Horten's largest football club. The club won the Norwegian Cup four times in the 1920s and '30s and played in the top division during the 1950s and '60s. Raufoss IL
Raufoss IL is a sports club from Raufoss, Norway. The club was formed in 1918. The football section played in the Norwegian top flight between 1937–1948, between 1957–1960, in 1964 and between 1973–1974. The club currently plays in 1. divisjon, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. Since 2015, they have played their home games at Nammo Stadion. In 2007 Raufoss returned to the 1. divisjon and were able to finish in eleventh place, after being relegated from the second tier in 2004. However, due to financial problems and failure to meet demands on infrastructure, the Football Association of Norway decided not to award Raufoss the required license for play in the top two divisions. Brumunddal Fotball is the football section of the Norwegian alliance sports club Brumunddal IL, located in Brumunddal, Hedmark. The organizational independency of the football section dates from 2003, although its parent club was founded in 1895. The men's football team currently plays in the 3. divisjon, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. History The team played in the Third Division, but after being relegated in 1995 it languished in the Fourth Division. Its return to the Third Division in 1998 also became short-lived. The team then had a longer stint from 2001 to 2004, when Strømmen IF was beaten in the playoffs, securing promotion to the 2005 Norwegian Second Division.
