Harpo Marx
Arthur "Harpo" Marx (born Adolph Marx; November 23, 1888 – September 28, 1964) was an American comedian, actor, mime artist, and harpist, and the second-oldest of the Marx Brothers. In contrast to the mainly verbal comedy of his brothers Groucho and Chico, Harpo's comic style was visual, being an example of vaudeville, clown and pantomime traditions. He wore a curly reddish blond wig and was silent in all his movie appearances, instead blowing a horn or whistling to communicate. Life With The Lyons
''Life with the Lyons'' was a British radio and television domestic sitcom from the 1950s (1950–1961 on radio, 1955–1960 on television). Overview ''Life with the Lyons'' featured a real American family. Ben Lyon and his wife Bebe Daniels had settled in London during the Second World War and featured with Vic Oliver in the radio series'' Hi, Gang!'' that ran from 1940 to 1949. MCOT HD (in Thailand called Channel 9 MCOT HD th, ช่อง 9 เอ็มคอตเอชดี) is a Thai free-to-air television network launched on 24 June 1955 and owned by MCOT. History The channel was originally launched as Channel 4 Bang Khun Phrom (ช่อง 4 บางขุนพรหม) with test transmissions beginning on 6 September 1954 and beginning formal broadcasts on 24 June 1955. The then new channel operated under the management of the Thai Television Company (founded 1952). The channel began to broadcast daily in 1957. In 1974, the channel migrated from broadcasting in black-and-white at 525-lines on VHF channel 4 to a colour using a 625-line system on VHF channel 9 (the second in Southeast Asia). The 1950s quiz show scandals were a series of scandals involving the producers and contestants of several popular American television quiz shows. These shows' producers secretly gave assistance to certain contestants in order to prearrange the shows’ outcomes while still attempting to deceive the public into believing that these shows were objective and fair competitions. Producers fixed the shows sometimes with the free consent of contestants and out of various motives: improving ratings, greed, and the lack of regulations prohibiting such conspiracy in game show productions. The scandals took place at a time when television was still emerging as a medium and had yet to become the established cultural force in American society that it is today. Produced by Jack Barry-Dan Enright Productions, two contestants competed against each other in separate isolation booths, answering general-knowledge questions to earn 21 total points. Schipper naast Mathilde ('' Skipper next to Mathilde'') was a Flemish TV sitcom, broadcast between 1955 and 1963 on the Flemish public service TV station N.I.R. (nowadays the VRT). At the time it was tremendously successful and it is well regarded as the first classic TV series of Flemish television. About 185 episodes were made, but since many of them went live in the air without recording a copy the majority are lost today. Another part was lost in a fire. In 2005 a DVD was made available which contains all the remaining episodes, nine in total. Concept ''Schipper naast Mathilde'' took place in a typical Flemish village.
