Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, the mainland territory of which comprises the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Martinus Lørdahl
Martinus Lørdahl (28 July 1873, in Hof, Vestfold – 2 April 1933, in Oslo) was a Norwegian businessperson, multi sports competitor and sports administrator. He was active in several sports, in particular athletics, swimming and skating. He was among Norway's best racewalkers, and had several good results in speed skating, including placing second at the 1905 World Allround Speed Skating Championships. He co-founded the sports club Kristiania Idrætsforening in 1893, and participated in restarting Christiania Skøiteklub in 1898. He was a driving force in the construction of Bislett Stadium from 1908. He served as President of the Norwegian Swimming Federation from 1920 to 1923, and co-founded . Gerdt Henrik Meyer Bruun
Gerdt Henrik Meyer Bruun (3 February 1873 – 17 April 1945) was a Norwegian industrialist and a politician for the Conservative Party. The son of factory owner Engelbrekt Christen Bruun (1839-1913), he took over his father's business in 1897. He entered politics shortly after this, and served as deputy mayor and later mayor of Årstad from 1901 to 1915. In 1919, Bruun was elected to the Norwegian parliament for a three-year period. He was then appointed Minister of Trade in the cabinet of Otto Bahr Halvorsen, lasting from 1920 to 1921. Bruun owned the property "Villa Solhaug" in Leapark at Minde until shipowner Erik Grant Lea took over the property in 1915. Paal Olav Berg
Paal Olav Berg (18 January 1873 – 24 May 1968), born in Hammerfest, was a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party. He was Minister of Social Affairs 1919–1920, and Minister of Justice 1924–1926. He was the 12th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1929 to 1946. Paal Berg was instrumental in the German Dismissal of pro-Nazi puppet regime of Vidkun Quisling to be replaced by a council of Norwegian citizens, including himself on April 15, 1940. This was overseen after April 24 by Hitler's appointee Josef Terboven. Despite holding this position in the occupied government, Berg was far from a collaborator. Indeed, William L. Axel Aubert
Axel Aubert (11 December 1873 – 16 December 1943) was a Norwegian chemical engineer who served as Director-General of Norsk Hydro. Biography He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo, Norway). He was the son of Otto Benjamin Andreas Aubert (1841–98) and Hilda Thaulow (1846–1923). After first studies at the Oslo Technical College, he then studied engineering at the University of Berlin and earned a doctorate in chemistry at the University of Basel in 1895. He became the managing director of Engene Dynamitfabrik and Norsk Sprængstofindustri. In 1926 he was hired as Director-General (CEO) of Norsk Hydro. In 1940, while Norway was still neutral in World War II, Aubert was contacted by agents from French military intelligence regarding Norsk Hydro's production of heavy water (deuterium oxide) at its Vemork hydroelectric plant. Einar Liberg
Einar Liberg (16 October 1873 – 9 September 1955) was a Norwegian rifle shooter who competed in the early 20th century. He won the gold medal with the Norwegian 300 metre free rifle team at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, and four years later at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm he won the silver medal with the free rifle team. Johan Martin Jakobsen Strand
Johan Martin Jakobsen Strand (10 October 1873 – 17 August 1935) was a Norwegian farmer and politician for the Liberal Party. Career He was born in Kvernes as a son of farmer Jacob Jakobsen Strand (1835–1875) and his wife Ellen Johanne Larsdatter (1841–1930). He took his education at the Higher College of Agriculture at Aas from 1899 to 1901. He ran an agricultural school from 1903 to 1911, and was county agronomist in Møre from 1906 to 1907. In 1907 the school was located to Bremsnes, and Strand moved here in 1908. He was a member of Bremsnes municipal council from 1916 to 1934, serving as deputy mayor between 1919 and 1928. He was also the director of the local savings bank. From 1930 to 1935 he was a board member of the Bank of Norway branch in Kristiansund. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from the constituency Møre on four occasions; in 1924, 1927, 1930 and 1933.
