Broder Knud Brodersen Wigelsen (29 June 1787 10 September 1867) was an officer in the Royal Danish-Norwegian navy at the time of the gunboat war with Britain. After the war he served in various capacities, principally in the Danish customs service. Family influences Broder Knud Brodersen Wigelsen was born on 29 June 1787 in the town of Aalborg where his father, Hans Wigelsen, was a prominent merchant and also justice of the peace and mayor. Johan Ludwig Lund
Johan Ludwig Gebhard Lund (primarily known as J. L. Lund) (16 October 1777 – 3 March 1867) was a Danish painter, born in Kiel, Duchy of Holstein, to master painter Hans Giewert Lund and his wife Maria Magdalena Christina Bremer. An adherent of romanticism, he is known for his history paintings. Training as artist Lund came to Copenhagen to train as an artist, and in 1797, at the age of 22, he started his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (''Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi'') with the support of Johan Frederik Clemens, acclaimed royal engraver and influential member of the Academy. He came quickly into contact with the rich and powerful of that time, which had a decided influence on his artistic development. He studied under neoclassicist Nikolaj Abraham Abildgaard at the Academy from 1797 to 1799, and taught drawing privately during his student years. Johannes Larsen
Johannes Larsen (27 December 1867 – 20 December 1961) was a Danish nature painter. Biography Larsen was born in Kerteminde on Funen, Denmark. He was the son of Jeppe Andreas L. and Vilhelmine Christine Bless. His father was a merchant. Larsen studied art at the Free School in Copenhagen under Kristian Zahrtmann (1843–1917) in the 1880s. There he met other painters from Funen, notably Fritz Syberg (1862–1939) and Peter Marius Hansen (1868-1928), both from the southern port of Faaborg, and the Funish Painters group (''Fynboerne'') was born. They went on to create an art colony that influenced many Danish and Swedish artists and brought them success. In 1898, he was married to the painter Alhed Maria Warberg (1872–1927). Between 1901-02, the artist couple built their home on Møllebakken in Kerteminde. Christian IX Of Denmark
Christian IX (8 April 181829 January 1906) was King of Denmark from 1863 until his death in 1906. From 1863 to 1864, he was concurrently Duke of Schleswig, Holstein and Lauenburg. A younger son of Frederick William, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Christian grew up in the Duchy of Schleswig as a prince of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, a junior branch of the House of Oldenburg which had ruled Denmark since 1448. Although having close family ties to the Danish royal family, he was originally not in the immediate line of succession to the Danish throne. Following the early death of the father in 1831, Christian grew up in Denmark and was educated at the Military Academy of Copenhagen. Hedevig Faaborg Quiding née Springborg (16 September 1867 3 October 1936) was a Danish operatic soprano, voice instructor and music critic. When she was 19, she made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera as Philine in Ambroise Thomas' ''Mignon'' but then moved to Germany where over the next ten years she performed some 40 roles in the opera houses of Berlin, Munich and Nuremberg. On returning to Denmark, from the turn of the century she retired from the stage to become an effective voice and stagecraft instructor and from the 1920s an influential music critic. In later years, she concentrated on writing and on making radio broadcasts.
