Andreas Schifter
Andreas Schifter (1779–1852) was a Danish naval officer and shipbuilder, a capable naval administrator and admiral. He oversaw the transition of the Danish navy from sail to early steam power. Johan Christian Conradi
Johan Christian Conradi (1709 – 30 September 1779) was a German born, Danish master builder, contractor and architect. Early life and education Conradi was born at Gotha in the Sazon duchy of Saxe-Gotha. He moved to Denmark in 1739 where he was accepted into the masons' guild in 1740. Work as builder In the beginning of his career, Conradi worked as a mason and builder. His first major work as such was Ledreborg (1743–45). In the late 1740s he began routinely working for Niels Eigtved, architect to the Royal Court, executing projects such as the first Royal Danish Theatre at Kongens Nytorv (1748–49, demolished in 1874), Danish Asia Company's warehouse at Asiatisk Plads (1748–50), Christian's Church (1755-64) and the Lindencrone Mansion in Bredgade (1751). Later works include Almindeligt Hospital in Amaliegade which he completed to designs by Nicolas-Henri Jardin in 1760 (demolished in 1892) and maintenance work both on Kongens Bryghus and Børsen (1779). Adam Oehlenschläger
Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger (14 November 177920 January 1850) was a Danish poet and playwright. He introduced romanticism into Danish literature. He wrote the lyrics to the song ''Der er et yndigt land'', which is one of the national anthems of Denmark. Biography He was born in Vesterbro, then a suburb of Copenhagen. His father, Joachim Conrad Oehlenschläger (1748–1827) was at that time organist of Frederiksberg Church and later, keeper of the royal palace of Frederiksberg. The poet's mother Martha Marie Hansen (1745–1800) suffered from depression, which afterwards deepened into melancholy madness. Oehlenschläger and his sister Sophie Ørsted (1782–1818) were taught only to read and write, until their twelfth year. At the age of nine, Oehlenschläger began to write fluent verses. Christian VII Of Denmark
Christian VII (29 January 1749 – 13 March 1808) was a monarch of the House of Oldenburg who was King of Denmark–Norway and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein from 1766 until his death in 1808. For his motto he chose: "''Gloria ex amore patriae''" ("Glory through love of the fatherland"). Christian VII's reign was marked by mental illness and for most of his reign, Christian was only nominally king. His royal advisers changed depending on who won power struggles around the throne. From 1770 to 1772, his court physician Johann Friedrich Struensee was the ''de facto'' ruler of the country and introduced progressive reforms signed into law by Christian VII. Struensee was deposed by a coup in 1772, after which the country was ruled by Christian's stepmother, Juliane Marie of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, his half-brother Frederick, and the Danish politician Ove Høegh-Guldberg. Julius Høegh-Guldberg
Julius Høgh-Guldberg (4 April 1779 – November 1861) was a Danish officer, commissioner and politician. He had a long and prominent military career until he retired in 1832 at the rank of colonel. He settled in Aarhus where he became a member of the city council. He was extensively involved in social issues and advocacy. He was awarded both the Order of the Dannebrog and the Knights of the Order of the Dannebrog before he died in 1861. Early life and family Høgh-Guldberg was born in Copenhagen in 1779 where he grew up with 6 siblings. His parents were prime minister Ove Høegh-Guldberg and his second wife Lucie Emmerentze Nørlem. Høgh-Guldberg married twice, first time in 1805 to Margrethe Pallene Hahn (1782-1835) with whom he had 8 children, the second time in 1841 to Cathrine Johanne Emilie Friis (1813-1899) with whom he had a son.
