Kristian Erslev
Kristian Sophus August Erslev (December 28, 1852 – June 20, 1930) was a Danish historian and professor. Biography Kristian Erslev was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1870, Erslev graduated from Mariboes School in Copenhagen, and began studying at the University of Copenhagen, graduating with a magister degree in 1876. After a study trip to Germany, Italy, Greece and France, he return in 1879 to graduate as Dr.Phil. From 1881, Erslev became a research fellow at the Gehejme Archives and in 1883 he became professor of history at the University of Copenhagen. His work involved a variety of subjects, including historiography. Erslev's influence on the Danish academic community was great and he was considered "the master" Danish historian. Valdemar Koch
Otto Valdemar Koch (20 October 1852 – 24 February 1902) was a Danish architect and local politician. He designed a number of churches in Copenhagen. Early life and education Valdemar Koch was born in the parish of Sønder Kirkeby on the island of Falster, Denmark. His parents were pastor Hans Peter Gyllembourg Koch (1807–1883) and his second wife Anna Oline F. Parelius (1823–1861). In 1871, he joined the drawing school of C. V. Nielsen. He was then admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from which he graduated in 1879. The following year, he travelled to Germany and Italy, which he repeated in 1883, 1885 and 1886. Career Koch initially worked as a draughtsman for Ludvig Fenger and Hermann Baagøe Storck. He participated independently in the competition for the new Copenhagen City Hall which was held in early 1889. Hans Niels Andersen (10 September 1852 – 30 December 1937) was a Danish shipping magnate, businessman, diplomat and founder of the East Asiatic Company. Early life Born into a working-class family in Nakskov, he trained as a shipbuilder before hiring on as a ship's carpenter in 1872. He came to Bangkok for the first time in 1873 and advanced to first mate and later master of ''Thoon Kramom'', a ship owned by Chulalongkorn, the king of Siam. Subsequently, he entered the freight business in East Asia and later Europe. Carl Aarsleff
Carl Vilhelm Oluf Peter Aarsleff (14 August 1852 – 4 January 1918) was a Danish sculptor. Biography Aarsleff was born in Nyborg on the island of Funen. He trained as a wood carver with his father before going to Copenhagen where he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1872. He graduated from the Academy in 1876. At the same time working in the studios of Theobald Stein, Vilhelm Bissen and Jens Adolf Jerichau. In 1876, he won the Academy's small gold medal and in 1880, its large gold medal. In 1881, he went abroad on a travel grant to further his studies, visiting Paris, Italy and Greece. In 1890 he became a member of the Academy Council. He was a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1901 and from 1914 to 1917 served as its director. Aarsleff's production of own works was relatively slow to get off the ground.
