The 1999–2000 Honduran Liga Nacional was the 35th season in the Honduran top division, the tournament was divided into two halves (Apertura and Clausura) and it determined the 35th and 36th national champions in the league's history. Cortés Department
Cortés is one of the 18 departments of Honduras. The department covers an area of 3,954 km² and, in 2015, had an estimated population of 1,612,762, making it the most populous in Honduras. The Merendón Mountains rise in western Cortés, but the department is mostly a tropical lowland, the Sula Valley, crossed by the Ulúa and Chamelecon rivers. It was created in 1893 from parts of the departments of Santa Bárbara and Yoro. The departmental capital is San Pedro Sula. Alex Pineda Chacón
Alex Mauricio Pineda Chacón (born 19 December 1969 in Santa Cruz de Yojoa) is a retired Honduran footballer. Professional career Chacón spent most of his career with Club Olimpia of Honduras, joining the side in 1988, and leading the team to two Honduran championships and a CONCACAF Champions' Cup in 1988. He later played with UA Tamaulipas of Mexico during the 1993–94 season, and then for Sporting Cristal of Peru during the 1994–95 season, appearing in four Copa Libertadores matches. In 2001, Chacón joined Major League Soccer side Miami Fusion. During the 2001 season, Chacón played a crucial attacking role on a team stacked with offensive talent, including Preki, Diego Serna, Ian Bishop, and Chris Henderson. Elvis Geovany Scott Ruiz (; born 1 August 1978) is a Honduran former football striker who last played for Guatemalan side Juventud Retalteca. Club career Scott started his career at hometown club Platense before spells at several different teams in the Honduran National League. He also had a season, the 2003 Clausura, in El Salvador with Alianza. He was bought by the Chinese club Changchun Yatai in December 2005, along with his teammate Victor Mena and Olimpia player Samuel Caballero. Francisco Morazán (), FMO is one of the departments of Honduras. It is located in the central part of the nation. The departmental capital is Tegucigalpa, which is also Honduras's national capital. Until 1943 it was known as Tegucigalpa department. It was named after national hero Francisco Morazán. The department is very mountainous, with rugged ranges covered in pine forests; which are rocky and mostly clay. Atlántida () is a department located on the north Caribbean shore of Honduras, Central America. The capital is the port city of La Ceiba. El Clásico Moderno (The Modern Classic) also referred by some as the Clasico Moderno Hondureño is a Honduran football match played at least 4 times a year in the Honduran Liga Nacional and consists of two teams, Olimpia and Real España.
