The president of the State of Israel ( he, נְשִׂיא מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל, Nesi Medinat Yisra'el, or he, נְשִׂיא הַמְדִינָה, Nesi HaMedina, President of the State) is the head of state of Israel. "Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)" ( he, יום הולדת; meaning " Birthday") was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, performed in Hebrew and English by Eden. The song was written by Yitzhak Baranes, , Jacky Oved, and , and composed by Baranes, Lamai, Oved, and Moshe Datz; Datz previously produced the , as well as represented Israel in Eurovision in as part of Duo Datz with "Kan". At the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, Israel was represented by Israeli band Eden with the song "Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". The Israeli entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem was announced on 17 January 1999, having been selected internally by an expert committee assembled by the country's public broadcasting service IBA. Israel was drawn to compete nineteenth in the contest, held on 29 May 1999. At the end of the night, the nation placed 5th in the field of 23 entries, receiving 93 points. Before Eurovision Internal selection 900 songs were submitted by the public, which were subsequently evaluated by a special committee that shortlisted four songs. On 17 January 1999, IBA announced that Eden were selected as the Israeli representatives for the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "Yom Huledet". Eden (Israeli Band)
Eden ( he, עדן) were an Israeli vocal group active between 1996 and 2001, consisting of Doron Oren, Rafael Dahan and brothers Gabriel and Eddie Butler. They are known primarily for their participation in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest. Eden were chosen by internal selection to represent Israel in the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Yom Huledet (Happy Birthday)". As a result of Dana International's Eurovision victory the previous year, the 1999 contest was held on their home ground in Jerusalem on 29 May, when "Yom Huledet (Birthday)" finished in a respectable fifth place of the 23 entries. Eden also recorded several music tracks for the Italian albums "The Long Road: Grandi Classici Per Viaggiare" and "California: The Best of West Coast Music Vol. 2" released in 2005. INS ''Dakar'' ( he, אח"י דקר) was a diesel–electric submarine in the Israeli Navy. The vessel, a modified World War II British T-class submarine, had previously been of the Royal Navy. She was purchased by Israel from the Government of the United Kingdom in 1965 as part of a three T-class submarine deal. ''Dakar'' and her entire 69-man crew were lost en route to Israel on 25 January 1968. Despite extensive searches over the course of three decades, its wreckage was not found until 1999, when it was located between the islands of Cyprus and Crete at a depth of approximately . Aryeh Makhlouf Deri (, ), also Arie Deri, Arye Deri, or Arieh Deri (born 17 February 1959), is an Israeli politician. He is one of the founders of the Shas political party, and has served as Israel's Minister of the Interior, Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee, Minister of the Economy and as a member in the Security Cabinet of Israel.
