The 1998–99 Ukrainian Second League is the eighth season of 3rd level professional football in Ukraine. The competitions are divided into three groups – A, B, and C. Group A Promoted teams * Enerhetyk Burshtyn - Winner of the Amateur League ''(debut)'' Relegated teams * Verkhovyna Uzhhorod - Placed 20th in the First League ''(returning, last time as Zakarpattia Uzhhorod in 1990 (Soviet Union))'' Withdrawn teams ;Before the season * ''Berkut Bedevlya'', ''Tysmenytsia'', ''Karpaty Mukacheve'' refused to participate ;During and after the season * Krystal and Haray left the competition after the first half. FC Kalush
FC Kalush ( uk, Футбольний клуб «Калуш») was a Ukrainian professional football club from Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. History The club was founded soon after World War II as Khimik Kalush and in the Soviet competitions competed at regional level and KFK (amateur level). The club was reestablished in place of previously existed Polish club at the chemical plant TESP that also was overtaken by Soviets. Khimik Kalush also was associated with the Soviet chemical and metallurgical association "Khlorvinil" that was expanded in 1961. At KFK level the club competed until 1995, when as Khimik entered the Druha Liha. Its main sponsor "Khlorvinil" was reorganized as a state enterprise "Oriana". Later in 1995, Khimik renamed themselves to FC Kalush. The club struggled at this level of competition. In 2001, "Oriana" and the Russian oil conglomerate Lukoil created a joint venture "Lukor". Narodnyy Klub Veres Rivne ( uk, РНК «Верес») is a Ukrainian professional football club based in Rivne. The club competes in the Ukrainian Premier League, the top tier of Ukrainian football, after winning the 2020–21 Ukrainian First League. Their home stadium until 2017 was Avanhard Stadium. As it is under reconstruction, they currently play home matches at Avanhard Stadium in Lutsk. Founded in 1957, Veres first promoted to Ukrainian Premier League in 1992, and spent there 5 seasons in total over three periods. They achieved their best result of 6th place in 2017–18 season. FC Borysfen Boryspil is a formerly professional Ukrainian football club from Boryspil, Ukraine. The club was created as a phoenix club in 1997 by Ihor Kovalevych after disagreement in FC CSKA Kyiv (today FC Arsenal Kyiv). The history of the club is controversial and its admission to professional competitions is dubious. In mid 1990s the original team of Zlobenko reached some agreement with the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (CSK ZSU) after which there was established a joint team "CSKA-Borysfen" that became the first successful debutant of the Ukrainian Vyshcha Liha (today Ukrainian Premier League) finishing among top 5 at the end of season. FC Karpaty-3 Lviv was a Ukrainian football farm-team of Karpaty Lviv from Lviv, Ukraine. Created in 1997, until 2001 it played as ''Karpaty-2 Lviv''. FC Dynamo-3 Kyiv was a Ukrainian football team based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The team has been featured in the Ukrainian Second League, since it cannot be promoted to the Ukrainian First League, being a junior team from the FC Dynamo Kyiv franchise, which already has its 2nd tier team (FC Dynamo-2 Kyiv) in the First League. History Like most tributary teams, the best players are sent up to the senior team, meanwhile developing other junior players for further call-ups.
