1998 Swedish Touring Car Championship
The 1998 Swedish Touring Car Championship season was the 3rd Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) season. It was decided over six race weekends (comprising twelve races) at five different circuits. Fredrik Ekblom won his first championship for the BMW Dealer Team. Entry list Race calendar and winners All rounds were held in Sweden. Championship standings Drivers' Championship Points were awarded to the top ten drivers in a race as follows: 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. 5 points were awarded to any driver who took part in qualifying. Top 6 finishers in Race 1 were reversed to decide the Race 2 grid. The final meeting of the year saw double points awarded. Swedish Touring Car Championship
Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) was a touring car racing series based in Sweden, but also with rounds in Norway. They began operating in 1996, heavily influenced by the British Touring Car Championship and the success of BTCC racing on Swedish television. There are also a number of support classes that compete with their races alongside STCC; Radical Sportscars, Radical, the Camaro Cup, Superkart, Pro Superbike, the JTCC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. The final STCC season was in 2010, as the series merged with the Danish Touringcar Championship to form the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. Rules The cars are built according to the Super 2000 rules used in the FIA WTCC. A national counterpart, N2000, also exists to encourage teams to build their own cars without having to have them homologated by FIA. The third generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model code E36, and was produced by the German automaker BMW from 1990 to 2000. The initial models were of the four-door sedan body style, followed by the coupe, convertible, wagon ("Touring"), hatchback ("Compact"), and the rare four-door convertible Baur TC4 in later years. Stefan Lindberg (born 1971 in Alingsås) is a Swedish writer, playwright and translator. He made his book debut in 1999 with the short story collection ''Tusen nålar'' and has since published five more fiction books. In 2002, he published the novel ''Min terapi'' and in 2008 the collection of short stories ''I Gorans ögon''. Carl "Calle" Rosenblad (born 28 April 1969, in Västervik) is a Swedish auto racing driver. He is married with two children. Racing career His first racing was in Swedish Formula Opel in 1990, where he drove for four seasons. He also drove in the Swedish Porsche Challenge and the European Interseries from 1991. In 1996 he got a drive in the International Formula 3000, with the British Alpha Plus Team. The season was not a successful one, ending with no championship points. In 1997 he switched to the FIA GT Championship, with a GT1 Class Porsche 911 for the Kremer Racing Team, again with little success. He moved to touring cars in 1998, driving a Nissan Primera in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Eje Elgh (born 15 June 1953) is a Swedish racing driver and television reporter. He currently works as an expert commentator for Formula One in Sweden together with Janne Blomqvist.
