Board Game
Board games are tabletop games that typically use . These pieces are moved or placed on a pre-marked board (playing surface) and often include elements of table, card, role-playing, and miniatures games as well. Many board games feature a competition between two or more players. To show a few examples: in checkers (British English name 'draughts'), a player wins by capturing all opposing pieces, while Eurogames often end with a calculation of final scores. '' Pandemic'' is a cooperative game where players all win or lose as a team, and peg solitaire is a puzzle for one person. There are many varieties of board games. Their representation of real-life situations can range from having no inherent theme, such as checkers, to having a specific theme and narrative, such as ''Cluedo''. Rules can range from the very simple, such as in snakes and ladders; to deeply complex, as in ''Advanced Squad Leader''. Play components now often include custom figures or shaped counters, and distin ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

The Millennium Edition
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pron ... Panzer Grenadier Series
The ''Panzer Grenadier'' series of board wargames is Avalanche Press's series of World War II and The Korean War tactical land combat. The first game in the series was released in 2000. Series summary Unlike ''Squad Leader'' and other squad-level wargames, which ''Panzer Grenadier'' is commonly compared to, ''Panzer Grenadier'' is based at the platoon level. This makes it much more similar to the '' Panzer Leader'' and ''Panzer Blitz'' games published by ''Avalon Hill''. The game is played on a hex grid game map. Units and other markers are made out of 2/3-inch × 2/3-inch cardboard counters. The game also features a phased turn system where each player may alternately move and fire with some of his units on the map until all are done or the "fog of war" optional rule ends the game turn. This is in contrast to "I go, you go (IGYG)" systems where one player moves all (or the majority) of their units and then the other player moves theirs. Phased systems can create a less artificia ... Legend Of The Burning Sands
''Legend of the Burning Sands'' (''LBS'') is an out-of-print collectible card game (CCG) published by Five Rings Publishing Group (FRPG, then a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast) in July 1998 in games, 1998. It was a spin-off from the earlier CCG ''Legend of the Five Rings (collectible card game), Legend of the Five Rings''. ''Legend of the Burning Sands'' was set in the same fictional world as ''Legend of the Five Rings'', but with an Arabian setting rather than an East Asian one, with a few characters appearing in both games. Both games had similar mechanics and emphasized a continuing storyline. The first three ''Legend of the Burning Sands'' sets were released under FRPG's experimental Rolling Thunder system, which emphasized small, regular releases of cards. Knightmare Chess
''Knightmare Chess'' is a fantasy chess variant published by Steve Jackson Games (SJG) in 1996. It is a translation of a French game ''Tempête sur l'échiquier'' (''Storm on the Chessboard''), designed by Pierre Cléquin and Bruno Faidutti. A stand-alone 80 card expansion called ''Series 2'' was scheduled for a December 1997 release. Overview ''Knightmare Chess'' is played with cards that change the default rules of chess. The cards might change how a piece moves, move opponent's pieces, create special squares on the board or otherwise alter the game. For example, a card called Demotion says: :Replace one of your opponent's pieces (except a King or Queen) with one of his captured Pawns. :''Play this card on your turn, instead of making a regular move.'' There are two sets of cards sold separately, each consisting of 80 cards. The sets are known as ''Knightmare Chess 1'' and ''Knightmare Chess 2''; a single 160 card deck can be created by shuffling both decks together ... Guillotine (game)
''Guillotine'' is a card game created by Wizards of the Coast and designed by Paul Peterson. The game is set during the French Revolution, and was released on Bastille Day in 1998. The goal is to collect the heads of Nobles, accumulating points. Despite the grim topic of the game, the artwork is comical and the tone light. Overview Game play, for two to five players, takes approximately 30 minutes. Game equipment consists of two decks of cards, "Nobles" and "Actions", and a small cardboard structure representing the guillotine itself. This is mostly symbolic, though it can serve as a convenient indicator of the direction of the "line" of face-up Noble cards played on the game table representing condemned persons waiting to be beheaded. The Nobles cards carry points values and are collected by players after execution, while Action cards allow the player to perform various acts including rearranging the order of Nobles approaching the guillotine, stealing Nobles or Action cards ...
