1998 FIBA World Championship
The 1998 FIBA World Championship was the 13th FIBA World Championship, an international basketball tournament held by the International Basketball Federation and hosted in Greece from 29 July to 9 August 1998. The tournament was contested by 16 nations and the matches were played in two venues in Athens and Piraeus. Because of the National Basketball Association lockout and unlike in the previous championship, the USA Basketball Association was unable to send a team composed of NBA players, thus causing the American national team roster consisting of professional basketball players playing in Europe and two college players.1998 USA Basketball

Dimitrios Papanikolaou (alternate spelling: Dimitris) ( el, Δημήτρης Παπανικολάου; born February 7, 1977 in Nea Liosia, Athens, Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and a professional basketball coach. He is 2.02 m (6 ft 7 in) tall. He spent most of his career playing at the shooting guard and small forward positions, although he also played at the power forward position late in his career. Giorgos Balogiannis
Georgios Balogiannis (alternate spelling: Giorgos, Ballogianis, Mpalogiannis) ( el, Γιώργος Μπαλογιάννης; born January 17, 1971, in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Gregory Michael Newton (born September 7, 1974) is a Canadian former professional basketball player. He played four years of college basketball at Duke University and served as team captain during his 1996–97 Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team, senior year.
