1998 CFU Club Championship
The 1998 Caribbean Football Union Club Championship was an international club football competition held in the Caribbean to determine the region's qualifiers to the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. The winners Joe Public F.C. advanced to CONCACAF Champions' Cup 1999. The champions of and could not participate in the competition, so CONCACAF, presided by Jack Warner of Trinidad and Tobago, decided to invite two additional teams from Trinidad and Tobago. CFU Club Championship
The Caribbean Club Championship, also known as the CFU Club Championship or CFU Club Champions' Cup, was an annual international football competition held amongst association football clubs that are members of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). The Caribbean Club Championship served as a qualifying event for the CONCACAF Champions League tournament. The tournament was officially the Flow CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship for sponsorship reasons from 2018 to 2022. With the expansion of the CONCACAF Champions League starting from the 2024 edition, the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Club Championship was the last held. Instead, a regional cup tournament will be launched as a qualifying tournament of the CONCACAF Champions League for teams from the Caribbean, besides those which qualify directly through their professional leagues. Angus Eve
Angus Eve (born 23 February 1972) is a Trinidadian former professional footballer who is the head coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national team since 2021. With 117 caps he is his country's most capped player of all time. Playing career Eve played with Joe Public of Trinidad, on loan from Chester City of England. Eve is Chester's most capped player, although many of his caps were won while out on loan and he only made 14 Football League appearances for Chester in the 1999–2000 season. They were relegated at the end of the season, with Eve missing several games because of international duty. Austin "Jack" Warner (born 26 January 1943) is a Trinidadian and Tobagonian politician, businessman, and former football executive. Warner was Vice President of FIFA and President of CONCACAF until his suspension and eventual resignation from these roles in 2011. He is also the former Minister of National Security of Trinidad and Tobago and was an elected member of the country's parliament from 2007 to 2015. He was also the owner of Joe Public F.C., a professional football club in Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago. Warner has been implicated in numerous corruption scandals and was banned for life from football related activities by FIFA in 2015.
