Gary Blackney
Gary Blackney (born December 12, 1944) is an American retired college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Bowling Green State University from 1991 to 2000. Blackney also worked as an assistant football coach at Ohio State University, Syracuse University, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Rhode Island, the University of Central Florida (UCF), and Brown University. Waldo Stadium is a stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is primarily used for football, and has been the home of Western Michigan University Broncos football in rudimentary form since 1914, and as a complete stadium since 1939. It currently has a capacity of 30,200 spectators. History The stadium was built at a cost of $250,000 ($4.3 million in 2016), and it opened in 1939 with a 6–0 win over Miami University. The cost for Waldo Stadium also included the construction of Hyames Field, the school's baseball stadium directly west of the football field. The stadium is named for Dwight B. The 1998 Marshall Thundering Herd football team represented Marshall University in the 1998 NCAA Division I-A football season. It was Marshall's second season competing at the NCAA Division I-A level. The team won their second consecutive Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship and was invited to the Motor City Bowl. Season In the 1998 season Marshall was quarterbacked by future National Football League (NFL) starter Chad Pennington and featured future NFL player Doug Chapman as the starting running back. The team finished the season with an overall record of 12–1 repeated as champions of the MAC East Division with a 7–1 conference mark. The Anniversary Award is a traveling trophy awarded to the winner of the annual college football game between the Bowling Green Falcons of Bowling Green State University and the Kent State Golden Flashes of Kent State University. The Glass Bowl is a stadium in Toledo, Ohio. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the American football team of the University of Toledo Rockets. It is located on the school's Bancroft campus, just south of the banks of the Ottawa River. Known for its blend of old and new, it retains the traditional stonework around the field throughout all its expansions.
