Gary Blackney
Gary Blackney (born December 12, 1944) is an American retired college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Bowling Green State University from 1991 to 2000. Blackney also worked as an assistant football coach at Ohio State University, Syracuse University, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Rhode Island, the University of Central Florida (UCF), and Brown University. Plainview, New York
Plainview is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located near the North Shore of Long Island in the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population of the CDP was 27,100. The Plainview post office has the ZIP code 11803. Plainview and its neighboring hamlet, Old Bethpage, share a school system, library, fire department, and water district. The 1991 Bowling Green Falcons football team was an American football team that represented Bowling Green University in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) during the 1991 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their first season under head coach Gary Blackney, the Falcons compiled an 11–1 record (8–0 against MAC opponents), won the MAC championship, defeated Fresno State in the California Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a combined total of 279 to 168. 1991 NCAA Division I-A Football Season
The 1991 NCAA Division I-A football season was the main college football season sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The season began on August 28, 1991, and ended on January 1, 1992. For the second consecutive season, there was a split national championship. Both the Miami Hurricanes and the Washington Huskies finished the season undefeated (12–0) and with the top ranking in a nationally recognized poll. Under the conference-bowl selection alignments of the time, the Hurricanes and Huskies could not meet in a decisive title game because Washington was slotted into the Rose Bowl as the Pac-10 champions, and the other spot in the Rose Bowl was automatically given to the Big Ten champions (in 1991, that was Michigan).
