The 1997 Scottish League Cup Final was played on 30 November 1997, at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow and was the final of the 52nd Scottish League Cup competition. The final was contested by Celtic and Dundee United. Celtic won the match 3–0 thanks to goals by Marc Rieper, Henrik Larsson and Craig Burley. The 1997–98 Scottish League Cup was the 52nd staging of Scotland's second most prestigious football knockout competition. The competition was won by Celtic, who defeated Dundee United 3–0 in the Final. The Final was played at Ibrox Stadium because Hampden Park was being redeveloped, work which was completed in time for the 1999 Scottish Cup Final. Andreas Thom
Andreas Thom (born 7 September 1965) is a German former professional footballer who played as a forward for BFC Dynamo, Bayer Leverkusen, Celtic and Hertha BSC. He played 51 times for East Germany throughout the 1980s and played ten times for the unified Germany national team in the early 1990s. Kjell Olofsson
Kjell Olofsson (born 23 July 1965 in Gothenburg) is a former Swedish footballer who played as a striker. Career Dundee United 1996–97 season Olofsson joined Scottish club Dundee United during the 1996–97 season. Brought in by then manager Tommy McLean, he made his debut as a trialist in the 1–0 victory over Hearts at Tannadice on 26 October 1996, along with fellow Scandinavian Erik Pedersen. Kjell scored his first goal seven days later in a 3–1 win over Motherwell at Fir Park and he instantly became a fan-favourite. Erik Pedersen
Erik Stensrud Pedersen (born 11 October 1967) is a former Norwegian footballer who played as left back. Pedersen spent most of his career in Norway, but had a spell in Scotland with Dundee United. Playing career Pedersen played youth football for Storms and Eidanger before joining Odds in 1984. He moved to Tromsø in 1988 and then Viking in 1991. He made ten appearances for Norway between 1990 and 1992 and won the 1991 Tippeligaen with Viking, but his career began to be disrupted by injuries. Pedersen rejoined Odds (now known as Odd Grenland) for a year in 1994 before returning to Viking. On 26 October 1996, Pedersen appeared as a trialist for Dundee United in a Scottish Premier Division match against Hearts, subsequently signing a contract with the club. Mark George Perry (born 7 February 1971) is a Scottish retired footballer who played professionally as a defender for Dundee United, Aberdeen, Ross County and Peterhead in the Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League, as well as for Cove Rangers and Keith at Highland League level. Maurice Malpas
Maurice Daniel Robert Malpas (born 3 August 1962) is a Scottish former football player and coach. He signed for Dundee United in 1979 and spent his entire professional playing career with the club until his retirement in 2000. With him, United were Scottish champions in 1983 and Scottish Cup winners in 1994. European runs there included reaching the 1983–84 European Cup semi final and the 1987 UEFA Cup Final. Wilhelmus Marinus Antonius Jansen (; 28 October 1946 – 25 January 2022) was a Dutch professional football player and manager. As a midfielder or defender, he spent most of his career at Feyenoord, winning honours including the European Cup in 1970. He earned 65 international caps with the Dutch national team and played in the teams that reached the 1974 and 1978 FIFA World Cup finals. Enrico Annoni (born 10 July 1966) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played for several years in Serie A with Como, Torino and Roma. He then moved to Scotland to play for Celtic for two years, before returning home to Italy to care for his ill father.
