The 1997 Hamilton Tiger-Cats season was the 40th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 48th overall. The Tiger-Cats finished in fourth place in the East Division with a 2–16 record and failed to make the playoffs. Canadian Football League East Division
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Hamilton Tiger-Cats Seasons
This is a complete list of seasons competed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, a Canadian Football League team. The Hamilton Football Club was formed on November 3, 1869 and was first referred to as the Tigers in a game against the Toronto Argonauts on October 18, 1873, while also wearing black and gold for the first time. In 1941, during World War II, a new team, named the Hamilton Wildcats began playing in the Ontario Rugby Football Union after the Tigers suspended operations due to most of their players fighting in the war. After the Tigers rejoined the IRFU, the two teams were simultaneously competing for the Grey Cup. In 1950, the two clubs merged under the moniker Hamilton Tiger-Cats after it became apparent that both teams would not be able to compete financially in the same market. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West division. They play their home games at IG Field. The Blue Bombers were founded in 1930 as the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club, later changed to the Winnipeg Football Club, which is the organization's legal name. The Blue Bombers are one of three community owned teams, without shareholders, in the CFL. Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice. The Alouettes compete in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and last won the Grey Cup championship in 98th Grey Cup, 2010. Their home field is Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for the regular season and as of 2014 also home of their playoff games. Mark Nohra (born October 23, 1973 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a former running back and fullback with the Canadian Football League's B.C. Lions. He attended the University of British Columbia and is 5 feet 11 inches tall and 228 lbs. He has spent 8 years in the CFL with 3 teams. He was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1997 (4th round, 28th overall) and signed by the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League in 1998. The Bills released him at the end of training camp and Nohra was signed by the Lions in September 1998. He played a combined 17 games from 1998–1999 with B.C. From 2000–2001, he had his most successful years with the Edmonton Eskimos. In 2000, he was 9th in the CFL with a career-high 760 yards gained. That year, he also had a career-high 5 touchdowns.
