1997 Cork Junior A Hurling Championship
The 1997 Cork Junior Hurling Championship was the 100th staging of the Cork Junior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1895. The championship began on 27 September 1997 and ended on 30 November 1997. On 30 November 1997, Castlelyons won the championship after a 2-09 to 1-11 defeat of Courcey Rovers in the final at Páirc Uí Rinn. It remains their only championship title in the grade. Qualification The Cork Junior Hurling Championship featured seven teams in the final tournament. Over 70 teams contested the seven divisional championships with the seven respective champions qualifying for the county championship. Freemount GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Freemount in the north-west of County Cork, Ireland which forms part of the parish of Milford, Freemount and Tullylease. The club plays in the Duhallow division and competes in the Junior B Hurling Championship and the Junior C Football Championship. Eoin Fitzgerald
Eoin Fitzgerald (born 7 January 1980) is an Irish former hurler. He played with a number of clubs, including Castlelyons, Castlegar and Oranmore-Maree, divisional side Imokilly and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a forward. Career Fitzgerald played schoolboy hurling with St Colman's College in Fermoy on a team that won consecutive Harty Cup titles and an All-Ireland Colleges Championship title in 1997. He later lined out with the University of Limerick and won a Fitzgibbon Cup title in 2002. At club level, Fitzgerald first lined out with Castlelyons in the juvenile and underage grades and was just 17-years-old when he won a Cork JAHC title with the team in 1997. This was followed by a Cork IHC title and a Cork SHC title with divisional side Imokilly in 1998. Aghabullogue GAA are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Cork, Ireland. They are affiliated to the Cork County Board and play in the mid-Cork (Muskerry) division of Cork GAA. Aghabullogue cater for both hurling and Gaelic football. History Aghabullogue have a long tradition of hurling. In 1890, they won the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. By the rules of the GAA at that time, this victory allowed Aghabullogue to go on and represent Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. They later collected a Munster title following a victory over Kerry. There was controversy in the subsequent All-Ireland final when an Aghabullogue men left the field after one of the players had his toe broken by a Wexford man's hurley. Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. They have won six County Championships, 1951, 1957, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. They have also won three Minor County Championships, 2007, 2008 and 2014. Na Piarsaigh are a hurling and Gaelic football club based in the north side of Cork City, Ireland. History Formation In 1943 a group of idealistic young men drawn mostly from the hurling nursery of North Mon laid the foundations of Cumann Iomana & Peile Na Piarsaigh. The group had its first formal meeting in the presbytery of the North Cathedral. The young men called upon one of their teachers, Donnacha Ó Murchú, for guidance and assistance. This led to him becoming the first ''Uachtarán'' [president] of the club, with Derry Terry serving as ''Runaí'' [secretary] and Paddy Sutton as ''Cisteoir'' [treasurer]. In choosing a name for the club the members sought one which would reflect their aims and ideals. City Junior A Hurling Championship
The City Junior A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the BCE Consulting Engineers City Junior A Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Seandún Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1926 for junior-graded hurling teams in Cork, Ireland. The series of games are usually played during the summer months. The championship uses a double elimination format whereby each team is guaranteed at least two games. Seandun GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the city of Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, at adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship. The Mid Cork Junior A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the MKJ Oils Junior A Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Muskerry Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1926 for junior hurling teams in the Muskerry region in County Cork, Ireland. The series of games begin in May, with the championship culminating with the final in September. The championship includes a knock-out stage and a "back door" for teams defeated in the first round.
