The 1996 Nike Tour season was the seventh season of the Nike Tour, the PGA Tour's official developmental tour, now known as the Korn Ferry Tour. The top ten players on the final money list earned PGA Tour cards for 1997. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 1996 season. Michael Christie (golfer)
Michael Christie (June 25, 1969 – April 22, 2004) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and NGA Hooters Tour. Christie was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He was an All-American at the University of South Carolina in 1992. Christie got his start in professional golf in 1993 by qualifying for the U.S. Open (golf), U.S. Open, where he finished T-52. He won his first pro tournament on the then Nike Tour at the Carolina Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1995 by shooting a tournament record of 22-under-par. He played on the Nike Tour from 1994 to 1996 winning four times and earned his PGA Tour card as a result of his three victories in 1996, finishing second Stewart Cink on the money list. Christie played on the PGA Tour from 1997 to 2000; his best finish was a tie for sixth at the Greater Vancouver Open in 1997. Greg Twiggs
} Gregory Wofford Twiggs (born October 30, 1960) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Twiggs was born in Los Angeles and grew up in southern California. He attended San Diego State University where he was a member of the golf team, a first team All-American his senior year. He turned professional in 1984. Twiggs played full-time on the PGA Tour from 1984 until 1992, and had one official win. After 1992, he split his playing time between the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour; the majority of his time in the late 1990s was spent on the Nationwide Tour. His best finish in a major was T-22 at the 1993 PGA Championship. Olin Browne
Olin Douglas Browne (born May 22, 1959) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and now plays on the PGA Tour Champions. Browne was born in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H. in 1977. He then went on to Occidental College in 1981. He turned professional in 1984. He lives in Hobe Sound, Florida. He has featured in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Browne won three times on the PGA Tour. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Glen Hnatiuk (born May 15, 1965) is a Canadian professional golfer. Early life Hnatiuk was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada and attended the University of Southern Mississippi for college in the United States. He turned professional in 1990 and would then play on the Nationwide Tour for many years. Professional career Hnatiuk played his first full season on the Nationwide Tour in 1992, picking up one win in his rookie season and over $50,000 in earnings. Joseph Scott Durant (born April 7, 1964) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He was previously a member of the PGA Tour, where he was a four-time winner. Early life Durant was born in Pensacola, Florida. He attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he majored in Marketing and graduated in 1987.
