1996 Nebelhorn Trophy
The 1996 Nebelhorn Trophy took place between August 27 and 30, 1996. It is an international senior-level figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union and held annually in Oberstdorf, Germany. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. It was one of the first international senior competitions of the season. Skaters were entered by their respective national federations, rather than receiving individual invitations as in the Grand Prix of Figure Skating, and competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. According to the International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of figure skating, an ice dance team consists of one woman and one man. Ice dance, like pairs skating, pair skating, has its roots in the "combined skating" developed in the 19th century by skating clubs and organizations and in recreational social skating. Couples and friends would skate waltzes, marches, and other social dances. The first steps in ice dance were similar to those used in ballroom dancing. Vakhtang Murvanidze ( ka, ვახტანგ მურვანიძე; born 13 October 1979 in Tbilisi) is a Georgian former competitive figure skater. He is a multiple Georgian national champion and represented Georgia twice at the Olympics, in 2002 (17th) and 2006 (28th). His highest placement at the European Championships was 7th in 2003. He was the flag bearer for Georgia at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Early in his career, Murvanidze was coached by Leila Dolidze and Igor Rusakov. Yvan Desjardins
Yvan Desjardins (born October 6, 1975) is a Canadian figure skating coach and former competitor. He reached the free skate at two ISU Championships. Career Desjardins competed at the 1993 and 1994 World Junior Championships, qualifying to the free skate at both events. His best final result, 11th, came in 1993 in Seoul, South Korea. After retiring from competition, Desjardins became a coach, based in Rosemère, Quebec. In August 2015, he became only the 13th person to achieve Level 5 in Skate Canada's National Coaching Certification Program. In 2016, he received the Skate Canada Competitive Coach Award of Excellence. His past and present students include, Nicolas Nadeau, Jessica Dubé, Shawn Sawyer and Joseph Phan. Michael Johannes Malmin Tyllesen (born 27 August 1973) is a Danish former competitive figure skater. He is the 1997 Skate Canada International bronze medalist, a two-time Piruetten champion, and a two-time Nordic champion. Career Tyllesen was a member of Gladsaxe Skøjteløber Forening. He also trained in Edmonton and Lake Arrowhead, California, and worked with choreographers Lorna Brown and Igor Bobrin.
