Margrethe II Of Denmark
Margrethe II (; Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid, born 16 April 1940) is Queen of Denmark. Having reigned as Denmark's monarch for over 50 years, she is Europe's longest-serving current head of state and the world's only incumbent female monarch following the death of Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Born into the House of Glücksburg, a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg, Margrethe is the eldest child of Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden. She became heir presumptive to her father in 1953, when a constitutional amendment allowed women to inherit the throne. Margrethe succeeded her father upon his death on 14 January 1972. On her accession, she became the first female monarch of Denmark since Margrethe I, ruler of the Scandinavian kingdoms in 1375–1412 during the Kalmar Union. Denmark National Football Team
The Denmark men's national football team ( da, Danmarks herre-fodboldlandshold or ''herrelandsholdet'') represents Denmark in men's international football competitions. It is controlled by the Danish Football Association (DBU), the governing body for the football clubs which are organised under DBU. Denmark's home stadium is Parken Stadium in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen; their head coach is Kasper Hjulmand. Denmark were the winners of the Football at the 1906 Intercalated Games and silver medalists at the 1908 and 1912 Olympics. However, as amateurs who prohibited their internationals from becoming professionals at foreign clubs, Denmark did not qualify for the FIFA World Cup until 1986, although they won another Olympic silver in 1960. 1995–96 Danish Superliga
The 1995–96 Danish Superliga season was the 6th season of the Danish Superliga league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. The Danish champions qualified for the UEFA Champions League 1996-97 qualification, while the second and third placed teams qualified for the qualification round of the UEFA Cup 1996-97. The fourth, fifth and sixth placed teams qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup 1996, while the two lowest placed teams of the tournament was directly relegated to the Danish 1st Division. Likewise, the Danish 1st Division champions and runners-up were promoted to the Superliga. However, the 1st, the 3rd, the 4th, and the 6th played the UEFA Cup after the preliminary rounds. Brøndby IF
Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening (, usually abbreviated to Brøndby IF (), is a professional association football club based in Brøndbyvester, Capital Region of Denmark. The club was founded in 1964 as a merger between two local clubs and was promoted to the Danish top-flight football league in 1981. Brøndby IF has won 11 Danish championships and 7 Danish Cups. Brøndby's most successful period was from 1985 to 2005 when, in twenty years, they won ten league titles. Aarhus Gymnastikforening
Aarhus Gymnastikforening (; commonly known as AGF ), is a professional sports club based in Aarhus, Jutland, Denmark. Founded in 1880, it is one of the oldest clubs in the country and gymnastics and fencing are featured as its main sports. However, AGF is mostly known for its football department, which was established in 1902. Currently, the club's first team plays in the Danish Superliga, the top flight of the Danish football league system. AGF has won five Danish Football Championships and a record nine Danish Cups. AC Ballerup
Alliance Club Ballerup (or AC Ballerup, ACB) is a former Danish football club, located in Ballerup outside of Copenhagen, that was founded on 1 January 1996 and folded on 30 June 2002. The club was the result of a superstructure over several other football clubs; Ballerup Idræts Forening, Grantoftens Idræts Forening, Ballerup Fodbold Club Lundegården and Lille Hema af 1973, and was composed of one senior team and a couple of youth teams. At one point Skovlunde Idrætsforening, which was their league license the club was using, was also involved, but the club pulled out shortly before the club was dissolved in 2002. Denmark In The Eurovision Song Contest 1996
Denmark chose Dorthe Andersen and Martin Loft, with the song "Kun med dig", to be their representatives at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on 18 May in Oslo. "Kun med dig" was chosen as the Danish entry at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on 9 March. However, Denmark was one of seven countries which failed to qualify for the Eurovision final from a pre-qualifying round, so they were not represented in Oslo. Before Eurovision Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1996 The final was held at the DR TV studios in Copenhagen on 9 March 1996 and hosted by Hans Otto Bisgård. Five songs competed in the contest and the winner was selected solely by a public televote. The results of the public televote were revealed by Denmark's regions and "Kun med dig" was an overwhelming winner, receiving more votes than the other four songs combined. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) since 1957, which determines the for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings. History With the introduction of a semi-final at the 2004 contest, and due to Denmark's absence from the 2003 contest, Denmark's 2004 representative, Tomas Thordarson, had to take part in the semi-final. His song, " Shame on You" did not reach the final, finishing 13th in a field of 22 contestants. In 2005, DR made a bold step for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Artists were allowed, for the first time ever, to sing in a language other than Danish.
