The 1995 European Cup was the 31st edition of the European Cup, IIHF's premier European club ice hockey tournament. The season started on September, 1995, and finished on December 30, 1995. The tournament was won by Jokerit, who beat Kölner Haie in the final. IIHF European Cup
The IIHF European Cup, also known as the Europa Cup, was a European ice hockey club competition for champions of national leagues which was contested between 1965 and 1997, governed by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). History The competition was originated by Günther Sabetzki, based on the European Cup of association football (now UEFA Champions League). The tournament encountered problems. Countries had different levels of development in ice hockey, so some teams were weaker than others, resulting in a number of uncompetitive, one-sided games. Organisational difficulties were also posed by the refusal of some Soviet Union teams to play away games in certain places. This resulted in no final being held some years, and more than one final being held in others. The competition was discontinued after 1997. KHL Medveščak Zagreb
KHL Medveščak Zagreb ( hr, Klub hokeja na ledu Medveščak Zagreb), also known as KHL Medveščak Mladi, is a Croatian ice hockey club based in Zagreb, established in 1961. The team's name derives from the location of its original arena in the Medveščak area in central Zagreb, with KHL the abbreviation of the Croatian words for "ice hockey club." It is by far the most successful and popular ice hockey team in the country. From 1961 to 1991 the club was member of the Yugoslav League, before joining the Croatian League amid the breakup of Yugoslavia. In 2007 they also played in the Slovenian League for two seasons, and then the Austrian League from 2009 to 2013. Sheffield Steelers
The Sheffield Steelers are a professional ice hockey team located in Sheffield, England. They were formed in 1991 (see 1991 in sport) and play their home games at the Utilita Arena. They are currently a member of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The club's main (title) sponsor is Sheffield Window Centre. History Ice Hockey existed in amateur form in Sheffield, but the sport began its return to an era of arenas and stadium size crowds with the opening of the Sheffield Arena in 1991 and the creation of the Sheffield Steelers — the ice hockey team that was to occupy the new arena. Tilburg Trappers
The Tilburg Trappers are a professional ice hockey club based in Tilburg, The Netherlands. They previously played in the highest level ice hockey league in the country, but have been playing in the German Oberliga Nord since the 2015-16 season. Founded on 21 October 1938, they were officially recognised by the National Federation on 18 January 1939. The Trappers were crowned Eredivisie champions for the first time in the 1946-47 season, adding another 14 National Dutch Championships, 15 Dutch National Cups and 3 German Oberliga Championships over the years. HDD Olimpija Ljubljana
Hokejsko drsalno društvo Olimpija Ljubljana, commonly referred to as HDD Olimpija or simply Olimpija, was a Slovenian professional ice hockey club from Ljubljana. They played their home games at the Tivoli Hall. Olimpija has won 13 Yugoslav championships and 15 Slovenian championships. They won ten consecutive titles between 1995 and 2004. History The club was founded in 1928 as SK Ilirija. It was the first club on the territory of Yugoslavia to play organized ice hockey under the Canadian rules. In the 2007–08 season, their first in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, they made it all the way to the Finals, but lost 4 games to 2 against EC Red Bull Salzburg. Tilburg () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, in the southern province of North Brabant. Narva PSK
Narva PSK ( et, Narva Paemurru Spordikool) is an ice hockey team located in Narva, Estonia, which plays in the Coolbet Hokiliiga, the top tier of ice hockey in Estonia. They play home games at the Narva Ice Hall. History Narva PSK were founded in 2003, following the dissolution of the previous Narva-based hockey team, Narva 2000 (formerly known as Narva Kreenholm). Since their inception, Narva PSK have been a member of the Meistriliiga, and won the league twice, in both 2016 and 2017. As a result of winning the league in 2017, Narva PSK took place in the 2017–18 IIHF Continental Cup, where they were in the same group as HC Donbass of Ukraine, Polish side GKS Tychy and Latvian outfit HK Kurbads. Herning Blue Fox is a Danish professional ice hockey team based in Herning, Denmark, playing in the Metal Ligaen, the top tier of Danish ice hockey. The club was founded in 1947 and play their home games in the KVIK Hockey Arena which has a capacity of 4,105 spectators. The club has won the Danish championship 16 times with the last title coming in 2012.
