1995 South African Open (tennis)
The 1995 South African Open was a men's tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the 90th edition of the South African Open (and the last to take place until 2009), and was part of the ATP World Series of the 1995 ATP Tour. It took place in Johannesburg, South Africa from 3 April through 9 April 1995. Martin Sinner won the singles title. ATP World Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1997 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. Association Of Tennis Professionals
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour, the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Champions Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first President. Since 1990, the association has organized the ATP Tour, the worldwide tennis tour for men and linked the title of the tour with the organization's name. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. The 2009 SA Tennis Open was a men's tennis tournament played on hard courts outdoors. It is the 18th edition of the SA Tennis Open (and the first since 1995), and is part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2009 ATP World Tour. It took place at the Montecasino in Johannesburg, South Africa from 2 February through 8 February 2009. Joost Winnink
Joost Winnink (born 30 June 1971) is a former professional tennis player from the Netherlands. Career Winnink, and his partner Filip Dewulf, reached the semi-finals of the 1994 Monte Carlo Open, but his best result on the ATP Tour was when he finished runner-up at the 1995 South African Open, also in the doubles. In 1994 at the "Melkhuisje" (in his home country) Winnink upset the gravel specialist Àlex Corretja in straight sets. At the 1995 Eurocard Open, a Masters Series event, Winnink upset countryman and world number 21 Paul Haarhuis in straight sets, dropping just two games. He also reached the quarter-finals of the Czech Indoor tournament that year, en route defeating Javier Frana and David Prinosil, both top 100 players.
