1995 FIBA Under-19 World Cup
The 1995 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Greek: 1995 Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα FIBA Under-19) was the 5th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship. It was held in multiple cities in Greece, from 12 to 22 July 1995. Host country Greece, won their first (and only, as of 2021), championship in the tournament, after going undefeated and beating Australia, 91-73 in the Gold Medal Game. Spain notched their first-ever podium finish, after defeating Croatia 77-64 in the Bronze Medal Game. Efthimios Rentzias of Greece, was named the tournament MVP. Efthimios Rentzias
Efthimios "Efthimis" Rentzias (alternate spellings: Efthymios, Efthymis; Greek: Ευθύμιος "Ευθύμης" Ρεντζιάς; born January 11, 1976) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. During his pro club career, he was most notably a member of the Spanish League's FC Barcelona, and the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. At a height of 2.12 m (6'11 ") tall, he played at the center position. Professional career Europe Rentzias played his first club basketball with the amateur youth teams of Danaos Trikalon, a local team from Trikala, Greece. After that, he began his professional club career at the age of 17, with PAOK Thessaloniki of the Greek League, in the 1993–94 season. The 1994 FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship was the 9th FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament took place in Yaoundé, Cameroon from July 18 to 25 1994. Nigeria ended the round-robin tournament with a 6–0 unbeaten record to win their third title. Gordan Giriček (born June 20, 1977) is a Croatian former professional basketball player. Standing at , he played the shooting guard and small forward positions. Over eighteen years of professional basketball, he played in the NBA for several teams, including Memphis Grizzlies, Orlando Magic, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Phoenix Suns. Wang Zhizhi (, pronounced ; born 8 July 1977) is a Chinese former professional basketball player who is currently the head coach of the Bayi Rockets, the team with which he spent his domestic career in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
