1995 Australian Suzuki Swift Series
The 1995 Kumho Tyres Suzuki Cup was the first running of the series. It was based around nine rounds following the 1995 Australian Touring Car Championship and Australian Super Touring Championship trail. Over 32 cars entered the series which was won by speedway driver Adam Clarke. The series was supported by Suzuki importer ATECO and launched the careers of NASCAR Truck driver Clarke, V8 Supercar drivers Warren Luff, Phillip Scifleet, Damian White and Anthony Robson as well as Formula 3000 competitor Andrej Pavicevic and A1 Grand Prix driver Christian Jones. 1995 Australian Touring Car Championship
The 1995 Australian Touring Car Championship was a CAMS sanctioned Australian motor racing title for 5.0 Litre Touring Cars complying with Group 3A regulations. Bathurst 1000
The Bathurst 1000 (formally known as the Repco Bathurst 1000) is a touring car race held annually on the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is currently run as part of the Supercars Championship, the most recent incarnation of the Australian Touring Car Championship. In 1987 it was a round of the World Touring Car Championship. The Bathurst 1000 is colloquially known as ''The Great Race'' among motorsport fans and media. The race concept originated with the 1960 Armstrong 500 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, before being relocated to Bathurst in 1963 and continuing there in every year since. The race was traditionally run on the Labour Day long weekend in New South Wales, in early October. Winton Motor Raceway is a motor racing track in Winton, Victoria, Winton, near Benalla, Victoria, Benalla, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Lakeside Park, formerly known as Lakeside International Raceway is a motor racing circuit located in Kurwongbah, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It is north of Brisbane, and lies adjacent to Lake Kurwongbah. The circuit was known as the spiritual home of Queensland motorsport and was built by volunteers and borrowed machinery in the 1960s. Oran Park Raceway
Oran Park Raceway was a motor racing circuit at Narellan south west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia which was operational from February 1962 until its closure in January 2010. The track was designed and started by George Murray and Jack Allen. Since its closure in 2010 it has been developed into housing. Christian Jones (born 27 September 1979) is an Australian racing driver; he is the adopted son of 1980 Formula One World Champion Alan Jones. Biography Winning several Karting championships in his early teens, Christian moved to Australian Formula Ford in 1996-1998, with his best season finish of 2nd in 1998. Later that year he moved to Formula Palmer Audi winter series, placing 4th in the championship. A brief return to racing in 2000 with a Ferrari in Australia's GT Championship (PROCAR), lead to a full return at the end of the 2002 Australian Formula Three Championship, which saw him place 4th in the 2003 title. In 2004 he won the Asian Formula Three Championship and subsequently entered the 2004 Macau Grand Prix, finishing 17th. The Australian Super Touring Championship (formerly known as the Australian 2.0 Litre Touring Car Championship) was a CAMS-sanctioned national motor racing title for Super Touring Cars. History Super Touring was introduced into Australia in 1993 when CAMS replaced the existing Group 3A Touring Car category (which had been based on FIA Group A rules) with a new two-class Group 3A. This encompassed both 2.0 Litre FIA Class II Touring Cars and 5.0 Litre Touring Cars, which would later become known as Super Touring Cars and V8 Supercars respectively.
