The 1994 Stuttgart Indoor, also known as the ''Eurocard Open'' for sponsorship reasons, was a men's ATP tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, Germany. It was the fifth edition of the tournament and was held from 14 February until 20 February 1994. Third-seeded Stefan Edberg won the singles title, his second at the event after 1991. ATP Championship Series
International Series Gold (previously known as the Championship Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally between 2000 and 2008 that were part of the ATP Tour. The tournaments were positioned below the ATP Masters Series, and above the ATP International Series in terms of prize money and ranking points available. International Series Gold tournaments offered players cash prizes (purses from $755,000 to $1,426,250 as of 2008) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. Carpet Court
A carpet court is a type of tennis court. The International Tennis Federation describes the surface as a "textile or polymeric material supplied in rolls or sheets of finished product." It is one of the fastest court types, second only to grass courts. The use of carpet courts in ATP Tour competitions ended in 2009. In women's tennis, no WTA Tour tournaments have used carpet courts since the last edition of the Tournoi de Québec in 2018. ATP Challenger and ITF circuit level tournaments with carpet courts continue to exist up to the present (2022). Types There are two types of carpet court. The most common outdoor version consists of artificial turf with a sand in-fill. Patrick Galbraith (born April 16, 1967) is an American former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. Career A doubles specialist, Galbraith reached the World No. 1 doubles ranking in 1993. During his career he won 38 top-level doubles titles. He was a mixed doubles champion at the US Open in 1994 (partnering Elna Reinach) and 1996 (partnering Lisa Raymond). He also won the men's doubles title at the ATP Tour World Championships in 1995 (partnering Grant Connell). Grant Connell (Pronounced: KAHN-nell) (born November 17, 1965) is a former professional tennis player from Canada, and has been a real estate agent for the past 14 years in Vancouver. He specializes in West Vancouver North Vancouver and Downtown properties real estate transactions. He is considered one of the world's top doubles player from the early to late -1990s, reaching the world No. 1 doubles ranking in November 1993. Connell won 22 doubles titles during his eleven seasons on the ATP Tour (1986 to 1997). He won his first four with fellow Canadian Glenn Michibata. Eurocard (payment Card)
Eurocard was a credit card, introduced in 1964 by a Swedish banker in the Wallenberg family as an alternative to American Express. In 1968, it signed a deal with the Interbank Card Association (today's MasterCard) so that their cards were accepted by each other's networks; this eventually led to a joint venture known as Maestro International in 1992, and merger in 2002. Its operations were relocated to Belgium in the end of the 1960s, and the card became the dominant brand in North and Central Europe between 1970 and 2002. Andrei Stanislavovich Olhovskiy (russian: Андре́й Станисла́вович Ольхо́вский; ; born 15 April 1966) is a former tennis player from Russia, who turned professional in 1989. Career Olhovskiy represented the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul and Russia at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he reached the quarterfinals as a wild card before falling to Brazil's Fernando Meligeni. The right-hander won two career titles in singles (Copenhagen, 1993 and Shanghai, 1996) and 20 titles in doubles, French Open (1993) and Australian Open (1994) champion in mixed doubles.
