1993 World Figure Skating Championships
The 1993 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Prague ( Sportovní hala), Czech Republic on March. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. 1993 was the first year that the ISU introduced a qualifying round for the singles events. In the qualifying events, the skaters were split into two groups, with the top 12 in each group advancing to the short program. Surya Bonaly
Surya Varuna Claudine Bonaly (born 15 December 1973) is a French-born retired competitive figure skater. She is a three-time World silver medalist (1993–1995), a five-time European champion (1991–1995), the 1991 World Junior Champion, and a nine-time French national champion (1989–1997). Bonaly is the only Olympic figure skater to land a backflip on one blade; she performed it at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Éric Millot
Éric Millot (12 December 1968) is a French former competitive figure skater. He is the 1993 European bronze medalist, the 1995–96 Champions Series Final bronze medalist, and a four-time (1990–93) French national champion. He represented France at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he placed 15th, and at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, where he placed 7th. With wife Valerie and young daughter Marie, the Millot family moved to California (Palm Springs and then San Diego) in the late 1990s. Scott Davis (figure Skater)
Scott Davis (born January 29, 1972) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time (1993–94) U.S. national champion and represented the United States at the 1994 Winter Olympics, where he placed 8th. Career Davis began his career when he won the U.S. junior national title during the 1989–90 season and began competing on the senior level nationally the following season. In the 1992–93 season, Davis won silver at 1992 Skate America and 1992 Skate Canada International. He went on to win his first senior national title at the 1993 U.S. Championships and was assigned to his first senior World Championships where he placed sixth. In 1993–94, Davis won silver at the 1993 Nations Cup and bronze at Piruetten. Philippe Candeloro (born 17 February 1972) is a French former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist (1994, 1998), a two-time World medalist (1994 silver, 1995 bronze), a two-time European silver medalist (1993, 1997), and a four-time French national champion (1994–97). Mark Mitchell (American Figure Skater)
Mark Mitchell (born May 2, 1968) is an American retired competitive figure skater. He is a three-time medalist at the United States Figure Skating Championships and placed as high as fourth at the World Figure Skating Championships (in 1993). He currently works as a coach and choreographer in Boston with Peter Johansson. Biography Skating career Mitchell was the 1986 U.S. Junior National Champion. He won the bronze medal at the 1990 United States Figure Skating Championships, but was not named to the World team, despite the U.S. having three spots to that competition. Vladimir Fedorov
Vladimir Anatolyevich Fedorov or Fyodorov (russian: Владимир Анатольевич Фёдоров, born 22 April 1971) is a Russian former competitive ice dancer. He is the 1993 World bronze medalist with Anjelika Krylova. He is now married and lives in the USA in illinois. He coaches at SnoKing Ice Arena in Snoqualmie, WA. Career Fedorov originally competed for the Soviet Union with partner Liudmila Berezova. They won the silver medal at the 1989 World Junior Championships. Anjelika Alexeyevna Krylova (russian: Анжелика Алексеевна Крылова; born 4 July 1973) is a Russian retired ice dancer. With partner Oleg Ovsyannikov, she is the 1998 Olympic silver medalist and two-time (1998, 1999) World champion. She currently works as a coach and choreographer in Moscow, Russia. Competitive career In her early career, Anjelika Krylova skated with Vladimir Leliukh and Vladimir Fedorov.
