Mamelodi Sundowns F
Mamelodi, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, is a township set up by the then apartheid government northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Etymology "Mamelodi" is the name derived from the Sepedi word with the prefix being "ma" meaning mother, and the suffix "melodi" meaning melodies. Its meaning can be translated to mean ''Mother of Melodies''. History The township was established when 16 houses were built on the farm Vlakfontein in June 1953 and later the name changed to Mamelodi. The Group Areas Act designated Mamelodi as a blacks-only area, though this became moot with the fall of Apartheid in 1994. In the 1960s black citizens were forcefully removed from the suburb of Lady Selbourne in Pretoria to Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa and Atteridgeville. Free State Stars Football club is a South African professional football club based in Bethlehem, Free State that plays in the National First Division. Formerly known as Makwane Computer Stars and Qwa Qwa Stars, their most significant honour is winning the 1994 Coca-Cola Cup and 2018 Nedbank Cup. The club sold their National First Division status to Casric F.C. at the start of the 2022–23 season. Following the sale of Bloemfontein Celtic the previous year, this left the Free State without any representatives in professional football. 1994 African Cup Winners' Cup
The 1994 African Cup Winners' Cup football club tournament was won by DC Motema Pembe in two-legged final victory against Kenya Breweries, who were later renamed to Tusker F.C. in 1999. This was the twentieth season that the tournament took place for the winners of each African country's domestic cup. Thirty-five sides entered the competition and despite the relatively small number of competitors, nine teams were either disqualified or decided to withdraw during the preliminary and first rounds of the competition, where AS Cimelta and Black Africa withdrew before 1st leg of the preliminary round, Al Ahly withdraw before the 1st leg of the first round due to political reasons while Renaissance withdrew after the 1st leg of the first round. The 1994 CAF Cup was the third football club tournament season that took place for the runners-up of each African country's domestic league. It was won by Bendel Insurance in two-legged final victory against Primeiro de Maio. Welkom () is the second-largest city in the Free State (province), Free State province of South Africa, located about northeast of Bloemfontein which is the provincial capital. Welkom is also known as Circle City, City Within A Garden, Mvela and Matjhabeng.
