QwaQwa Stars
Free State Stars Football club is a South African professional football club based in Bethlehem, Free State that plays in the National First Division. Formerly known as Makwane Computer Stars and Qwa Qwa Stars, their most significant honour is winning the 1994 Coca-Cola Cup and 2018 Nedbank Cup. The club sold their National First Division status to Casric F.C. at the start of the 2022–23 season. Following the sale of Bloemfontein Celtic the previous year, this left the Free State without any representatives in professional football. History Founded in 1977 in a small village of Makwane in an area then known as QwaQwa, the club gained promotion to the National Premier Soccer League in 1986. The team won the league cup (then known as The Coca-Cola Cup) in 1994 with Bunene Ngaduane leading the scoring charts. Goble Park is a multi-use stadium in Bethlehem, Free State, Bethlehem, South Africa. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. Bunene Ngaduane
Bunene Ngaduane (born 30 July 1972 in Kinshasa) is a former Congolese professional football striker who played for Ankaragücü in Turkey and Qwa Qwa Stars and Moroka Swallows FC in South Africa. The 2017–18 South African Premier Division season (known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship reasons) is the 22nd season of the Premier Soccer League since its conception in 1996. Bidvest Wits were the defending champions, having won the previous 2016–17 South African Premier Division (PSL) season. The season featured 15 teams from the 2016–17 season and one new team from the 2016–17 National First Division: AmaZulu replaced relegated Highlands Park. Mamelodi, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, is a township set up by the then apartheid government northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Etymology "Mamelodi" is the name derived from the Sepedi word with the prefix being "ma" meaning mother, and the suffix "melodi" meaning melodies. Its meaning can be translated to mean ''Mother of Melodies''. History The township was established when 16 houses were built on the farm Vlakfontein in June 1953 and later the name changed to Mamelodi. The Group Areas Act designated Mamelodi as a blacks-only area, though this became moot with the fall of Apartheid in 1994. In the 1960s black citizens were forcefully removed from the suburb of Lady Selbourne in Pretoria to Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa and Atteridgeville. Kennedy Mweene (born 11 December 1984) is a Zambian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for South African Premier Soccer League club Mamelodi Sundowns and the Zambia national team. He is Zambia's most capped player, having represented Zambia more than 120 times.
