1992 World Ringette Championships
The 1992 World Ringette Championships (''1992 WRC'') was an international ringette tournament, the 2nd (II) World Ringette Championships, and was organized by the World Ringette Council, the precursor to the International Ringette Federation (IRF). The tournament was contested in Helsinki, Finland, from March 4 to 8, 1992. Teams from six different countries competed: Canada, Finland, the United States, Sweden, Russia, and France. Overview There were two Canadian ringette teams, Team Canada East and Team Canada West (Team Alberta "AAA"). Also present was Team Finland, Team USA, Team France, Team Sweden, and Team Russia. Team Canada West won gold. Twelve members of Team Alberta were members of the Calgary Deb AA team. Venue The tournament was contested in Helsinki, Finland. Team Russia
Team Russia was the name of the Russian backed entry in the 2008–09 Volvo Ocean Race. Team Russia was founded by Oleg Zherebtsov, the founder of the Lenta hypermarket chain in Russia. Zherebstov met former Olympic sailor and professional skipper, Andreas Hanakamp, by chance during a sailing holiday in Croatia. The CEO of Team Russia is Michael Woods, who was director of Race Operations for the 2001-02 race. Team Sweden represents Sweden in women's international roller derby. The team was first formed to compete at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, and finished the tournament in sixth place. Sweden's first bout was on 8 October 2011, against Team Finland in Helsinki, in what Stockholm Roller Derby claimed was "the world's first Roller Derby bout between two nations".
