1991–92 Cupa României
The 1991–92 Cupa României was the 54th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Steaua București against Politehnica Timişoara. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, then the winner will be established at penalty kicks. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, each tie is played as a two legs. From the first edition, the teams from Divizia A entered in competition in sixteen finals, rule which remained till today. FC Steaua București
FC Steaua București was a Romanian professional football club of which two current entities are claiming the records. The original ''FC Steaua București'' team was part of the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence. In 1998, the club and facilities were separated from the sports club and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, allegedly leading to one of the shareholders (Gigi Becali) acquiring full ownership five years later. However, CSA Steaua București sued the football club in 2011, claiming that this was a new entity; the two have since been in a legal conflict regarding the ownership of the Steaua brand and honours, which resulted in multiple court cases and the forced change of the name of ''FC Steaua București'' to FCSB in early 2017. FC Sportul Studențesc București
FC Sportul Studențesc, commonly referred to as Sportul is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, that last played at senior level in the Liga IV. Founded in 1916, Sportul Studențesc was one of the oldest Romanian clubs still active. The club's best European performance came in the 1979–80 Balkans Cup, when it won the trophy, defeating Yugoslavian side NK Rijeka in the final. The club made it to the Balkans Cup final on one other occasion, in 1976, when it lost to another Yugoslavian side, Dinamo Zagreb. In the UEFA Cup, Sportul Studențesc's most notable performance came in the 1987–88 season, when the club reached the Third Round. Asociația Clubul Sportiv Petrolul 52, commonly known as Petrolul Ploiești () or simply as Petrolul, is a Romanian professional football club based in Ploiești, Prahova County, which competes in the Liga I. Founded in 1924 in capital Bucharest as ''Juventus'', following the merger of ''Triumf'' and ''Romcomit'', it won its first league championship in the 1929–30 season. In 1952 the team was relocated north to the city of Ploiești, and five years later settled on the name of Petrolul. Shortly after, it achieved three more national titles—in 1957–58, 1958–59 and 1965–66. Domestically, its honours also include three national cups, the latest in the 2012–13 campaign. Fotbal Club Brașov (), commonly known as FC Brașov, or simply as Brașov, was a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Brașov, Brașov County, founded in 1936 and dissolved in 2017. Originally founded as ''Uzinele Astra Brașov'', the team amassed 41 seasons in the top flight of Romania. Clubul Sportiv Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara, commonly known as Corvinul Hunedoara or simply as Corvinul, is a Romanian football club based in Hunedoara, Hunedoara County, currently playing in the Liga III. Founded in 1921 under the name of ''Fero Sport Hunedoara'', the club had over time various names such as ''UF Hunedoara'', ''Iancu Corvin Hunedoara'', ''ISS Hunedoara'', ''IMS Hunedoara'', ''Metalul Hunedoara'', ''Siderurgistul Hunedoara'' or Corvinul Hunedoara. Fotbal Club Unirea Dej, commonly known as Unirea Dej, is a Romanian professional football club from Dej, Cluj County, Romania, founded in 1921. They play in the Liga II. History It is one of Romania's oldest football teams, although it never reached the Liga I. Unirea's home field, Stadionul Unirea, has 5,000 seats. In 2004 Unirea Dej became the reserve team of CFR Cluj, until the summer of 2007. It has an average audience of about 300 fans. Since September 2008 the club has collaborated with AC Milan. U Craiova 1948, commonly known as FC U Craiova 1948 or FC U Craiova, is a Romanian professional football club based in Craiova, Dolj County, which competes in the Liga I. It is along with CS Universitatea Craiova one of the two entities asserting the history of the original Universitatea Craiova football team, which between 1948 and 1991 won four national titles and five national cups.
